Iran’s Sunni leader amid public dissatisfaction:

Iran Needs Big Transformation & Deep Changes to Get Rid of Crises

Referring to the beginning of pre-registration for the next parliamentary elections of Iran, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader believed that holding elections with the past methods and policies will not solve the problems.

In order to solve the problems and get the country out of the crises, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid insisted the need to change views and policies.
He was talking to the people of Zahedan before the Friday prayers on Aug 18, 2023.

Can the next parliament save the country from the existing crises?
If there is a luminous horizon, show it to the people

The Iranian top Sunni leader referred to the upcoming parliamentary elections, and said: “This year, the candidate registration for the parliamentary elections has started a few months earlier. Currently, there are MPs and a government; the people themselves have chosen the MPs and the president. They also elected the representatives of the House of experts. Let it be clear that despite holding elections, the crises are intensifying in the country.”

“The nation has been suffering from problems, and faces dead ends; the problems are increasing day by day,” he added.

The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan questioned: “Will the problems solve if a new parliament and administration come to the office? If problems solve through elections, this is a good, but if they increase what will the authorities respond?”

“The authorities, elders, wise people, and those who are involved with the fate of people must think about this issue and should deal with it. Will we have a brighter future if we vote for the next parliamentary and presidential elections? If the authorities see a luminous horizon and people do not see, they should show it to the people. If the result of the next elections is not clear, if the authorities cannot improve the situation, and if they will act like the past, such elections will not be in the interests of the people,” said the president of Darululoom Zahedan during his Friday sermons.

He further said: “This is not the job of a representative to reduce problems like water shortage, bread, gasoline and road asphalt and constructions. These are the duties of the government, not the parliamentarians. The duty of the MPs is to monitor the policies and performance of governments and decision makers. In other countries, parliamentarians are legislators and they criticize governments’ policies. The main duty of the MPs is to supervise the implementation of the law. The representative should monitor and observe the performance of ministries, administrations, and decision makers.”
He questioned: “What will be the effect of a representative if he\she is not able to speak and criticize openly?”

“A representative must be independent. A member of parliament has political and parliamentary immunity and has the right to criticize and supervise the policies and implementation of the law. The representatives should monitor the performance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign policies. Elections must not be repeated with past policies. There should be a fundamental change in views, policies, and plans,” said the Iranian Sunni leader.

The supreme leader needs advice
During his Friday speech of Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid referred to the responsibility of the representatives, and said: “People appoint members of the parliament and Assembly of Experts. The Assembly of Experts should not only hold a meeting every six months, but it should also monitor the performances. Experts should make suggestions to the leader and convey people’s problems and pains to him. In a meeting with the military commanders, the supreme leader said that all of us might make mistakes; this was a good point.”

“On the earth, there is no immaculate but Almighty Allah. Only God is free of fault and error. No one can question Allah; because He is immune from mistakes and slips. He knows everything, and we know nothing. In the battle of Tabuk, a group of people came to the holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said that they could not participate in the battle because of an excuse. The holy Prophet allowed them. Allah asked the holy prophet why he allowed them,” the prominent Sunni scholar of Iran continued.

He added more: “One day, the holy prophet peace be upon him, was talking to some heads of Makkah. One of the blind Companions asked the holy Prophet a question; the holy Prophet did not answer his question. Allah Almighty chastised the Prophet why he did not answer the question of the blind.”

“On the Day of Judgment, Allah will ask the holy Prophet Jesus: Did you tell people to place you and your mother as God? On the Day of Resurrection, people will come to holy Prophet Ibrahim, hoping for intercession. The prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, says: I am afraid for myself. Whose status is higher than the position of the Prophet Muhammad, Ibrahim, and Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them. Except Allah, all people including the prophets are responsible. In our country, officials are called ‘responsible’; it means someone who should be held accountable,” the Friday Khateeb of Zahedan said.
He believed: “The Supreme Leader needs consultation and advice. The members of the Expert Assembly are close to the leader; they should have consulted him. The supreme leader does not have foreknowledge; it is the duty of experts to convey the realities and people’s pain to the leader.”

The red line is only Allah
Imam of the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan went on to warn the authorities regarding inefficient policies, saying: “Policies and perspective are important. If views and policies are not changed, we will not see big changes, and the problems will remain. Officials must think of this and take decisive measures. The officials should remove the obstacles and be with the people.”

“It is the biggest danger for people if they do not have access to the officials. Some said do not criticize the leadership because he is red line; the red line is only Allah Almighty. No one has the right to criticize Allah because all His decisions are based on wisdom, “Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said.

There are good things in the US and Europe
In recent protests, Israelis did not kill their own people

The president of Darululoom Zahedan called for the implementation of justice and urged for freedoms, saying: “The Americans and Europeans have many faults; for example, the American leaders are arrogant, but despite this, sometimes the Congress slams the president, or the House of Commons criticizes the officials in England. In the US, there is freedom of speech. This is very valuable. The holy Qur’an talks about this freedom. If there is no freedom of expression, pen, and thought, problems will increase.”

He added: “We are committed to maintain everyone’s dignity. As Muslims, we are not allowed to insult or humiliate anyone. We should respect each other, and let people criticize. Preventing from criticism involved the country in problems and troubles. In Europe, sometimes the president or prime minister or parliament members resign, but in our country, there is no resignation at all. We have never seen MPs or experts to resign in favor of people; if someone does so, his life will be made miserable!”

“Israel has occupied the Palestinian territories, and we all believe that it has committed a great injustice. These days, the radical prime minister of Israel wants to restrict the powers of the judiciary. The Israeli nation, even the armed forces, has been protesting against this decision, and they say that the prime minister wants to push the country towards dictatorship. Many reservists and pilots have announced that they will resign in protest of this decision,” said Shaikh Abdol-Hamid.

“We object to the Israelis and have been condemning their actions, but they have also good things; we hate the evil things of the US, Europe and Israel, but why don’t we see their good things? In the recent Israeli protests against the government, no one was killed. Israeli forces kill Palestinians, but they do not kill their own people,” the Iranian top Sunni leader said during his Friday sermons of Zahedan.

Suppressing the nation is not the way to solve problems
It is difficult for people to bear the current situation

“Different strata of people and protestors including women, journalists, academics, and Ulama are in prison. They are members of the nation, and the nation should not be suppressed in protests. One of the officials assigned to the Basij forces has said that if people protest again, we will suppress them. Suppressing the nation is not the way to solve the problems,” the Friday Imam of Zahedan urged on maintaining the dignity of activists.

He continued: “Basij members should be among the people and must work to remove the pain and problems of them. We should see what the problem of the people is. Did our people die for the US and Israel? Did they lose their eyes for the US? Are those who are in prison, have been imprisoned for the US, Israel, and Europe, or they see themselves in trouble, suffering from hunger, and facing a dead end? You should listen to them.”

“Officials including military leaders and judges are among the people and touch most of the problems. Why don’t they transfer the problems to the leader? Talk to him; because the current situation is difficult for people to bear. All jobs and posts should be entrusted to competent and capable people,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said in his last points.
