Stating that the overwhelming majority of Iranian people did not participate in the recent parliamentary elections, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader emphasized the need to examine this issue.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid was talking to tens of thousands of people in Zahedan’ biggest Friday on March 8, 2o24.

The process of mass disqualifications has caused the removal of capable and competent managers
The Iranian top Sunni leader referred to the concerns of people about elections and said: “The elections were held. People talked about how the elections were held. Many think that Iranians are against Islamic religion and system. But the fact is that Iranians are wise and patient people and are among the best nations in the world. The Iranian nation waited a long time; People voted for Islamic Republic with hopes and accompanied you for 45 years. They participated in all the scenes, especially in the elections. Now they have problems and concerns”.
The Friday Imam of Zahedan continued his speech by saying: “In recent elections, many refused to talk about elections; this silence requires proper expertise. People believe that selecting and choosing certain people as representatives and as managers has caused the removal of capable people from the scene”.
“The nation knows well the well-wishers in the society and want to select them. The members of the parliament are the people’s representatives and the people should elect them. The problem is that the people do not trust selectors. People believe that this process is repeating the past policies and is inefficient,” said the president of Darululoom Zahedan.

Those who did not participate in the elections are not against the religion and against the country
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid went on to continue his speech by saying: “The criterion of commitment to Islam is needed when you want to appoint a Friday imam, but for the presidency and for parliament members, the main criterion should be the ability and competence. Today, the situation of the country’s economy is critical and the value of money has fallen. People’s life has been facing problems. So we say that the ability should be the criterion for selecting representatives and managers. Ethnicity, religion, party and faction should not be considered as conditions to choose the managers. There must be presented both agreed and disagreed representatives in the parliament and the cabinet to find out the right path; this is in the interest of the country and the nation”.
He stated: “In the recent elections, some people boycotted the elections and did not vote. Some kept silence and did not prohibit the people from participating in the elections. They left the judgment to the people. Actually they are not against the religion and the country, they are not agent of foreign powers, but they are dependent on the majority of the Iranian nation. The overwhelming majority of people did not participate in the recent elections; this issue should be diagnosed. According to the official statistics of the country, the overwhelming majority of people did not participate in the recent elections. This issue should be investigated and examined”.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid insisted on fulfilling people’s demands and said: “We have to sit and talk with people. We should think to find out the ways to solve the problems. All over the world, they examine and analyze issues and listen to people’s words. Listening to people is vital and important and is on the path of moderation”.

People helped the flood victims in the south of Province; we thank the people of Iran
Referring to the support and financial services of the Iranian people to the flood victims of Baluchistan’s southern part/Dashtiari, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader appreciated the people of Iran. He said: “The flood caused a lot of damage in Dashtiari, but people helped the victims of the flood. We thank all those who helped the flood victims and pray for them. Recently, Iranian people express more sympathy with each other; this is very good”.
“Expressing sympathy with people reduces distress, comforts the afflicted people, and makes them feel happiness, “he believed.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid insisted that the officials should think to build the infrastructures to prevent flood damages. He said: “The authorities should use the experiences of local people to prevent flood damages”.

Building infrastructure is one of the most important needs of the people of the southern parts of the province
Imam of the Grand Makki mosque of Zahedan added: “Now one of the most important needs of the people is to repair the infrastructures that have been destroyed due to floods. Reconstruction of infrastructures are the basic needs of that region. Damages can be prevented with proper management and expertise”.
“I have already said in the presence of the authorities that the traditions and views of the local people should be taken into consideration. If experts only rely on their own knowledge and ignore the traditions and experiences of local people, they will not succeed in their plans, shaikh Abdol-Hamid believed.
