Following the sudden death of Mawlavi Mousa Rahimi, one of the Baloch Sunni scholars of Hormozgan province, in the Bandar Abbas intelligence detention center of the IRGC (on July 24, 2022), while calling on the Iranian officials for transparency over the incident, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader expressed his deep condolences and regret on the death of this great Sunni scholar.

“The death of one of the Sunni scholars in the detention center of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran in Bandar Abbas, who was a native of Sirik County, caused us grief, and sorrow,” said the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Zahedan.

He continued: “The late Mawlavi Mousa Rahimi was the Imam of a mosque in Sirik of Hormozgan for many years. He was the source of religious and civil services in that region.”

“The passing of this prominent and noble scholar in the detention center of the IOIRGC has caused a great concern to the scholars and people of the region. We expect the relevant officials to begin a widespread inquiry in this regard, investigate, disambiguate and clarify the issue and announce the result,” said president of Darululoom Zahedan in a statement.

Shaik Abdol-Hamid concluded his points by saying: “I offer my deepest condolences to the scholars and the people of the area, especially to the family of Shaikh Rahimi over his passing and ask Allah Almighty for complete forgiveness for the deceased, and reward and patience for the survivors.”
