Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed ‘fasting’ a worship that plays a key role in obtaining Taqwa and piety and called on worshipers to take the advantage of Ramadan.

Talking to tens of thousands worshipers in Zahedan on May 18, 2018, Khateeb of Sunnis began his speech with the Noble verse of the Qur’an: «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ» and said: “It can be easily understood from the Qur’an and Sunnah that Taqwa/piety is the biggest and most important principle; because all divine commands have been obligated to make people pious.”

“Allah Almighty has equipped fasting with special influence in obtaining piety and Taqwa. Ramadan brings a suitable atmosphere where fasting, paying Zakah, reciting the Qur’an and offering prayers, and leaving sins make this month an opportunity to obtain piety,” he added more.
Hadith teacher of Darululoom Zahedan alluded to the philosophy of obligatory of fasting in Ramadan and said: “Fasting has been obligatory for every individual for the sake of Taqwa. Pious people are the most beloved ones and the nearest to Allah and His last messenger. The paradise belongs to pious people.”

“It was from Allah that He made fasting obligatory on us in the holy month of Ramadan which is the month when the Noble Qur’an was sent down; there is a strong connection between fasting and the Noble Qur’an. Before sending down the Torah to the prophet Moses, Allah ordered him to observe fast for 30 days and then He ordered Moses to add 10 more days,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid further said: “Fasting paves the way for piety and acceptance of the Qur’an and acting upon its commands. A pious person acts on the divine commands. We cannot meet prosperity without submitting before the divine plans and acting on them. So offer prayers, recite the Qur’an, donate and worship Allah as much as you can.”

Tarawih prayers proved by Sunnah and consensus of Sahabah
Khateeb of Sunnis alluded to the basis of the Tarawih prayers in Islamic sources and said: “The prophet Mohammad PBUH offered Tarawih some nights and then he stopped for fear of obligation of Tarawih.”

“Sayyidana Omar gathered different congregations of the Tarawih prayers in Masjid an-Nabi behind one imam who was the best reciter. So the Tarawih prayers are proved by the consensus of Sahabah,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid went on to say more: “Paying Zakah is one of the important obligations. When a person pays Zakah in Ramadan, s/he receives 70 times more rewards. One Friday prayer has the rewards of 70 Friday prayers. Therefore, we should take the advantage of Ramadan.”
“Ramadan is the month of resistance to the desires of ego. It is the month of patience; there should a resistance to sins. Observing fast without leaving sins and useless things cannot make anyone pious,” he said.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid termed Ramadan the month of solidarity and sympathy with poor, needy people and orphans. He said: “Donate on all needy people, especially students of Islamic schools who cannot earn because of learning. They look rich, but they are poor because of their restrain as the Noble Qur’an clarifies (2:273).”

“The main influence of fasting in Ramadan is closing the gates of the Hell. Fasting gets us away from the Fire and anger of Allah. It suppresses the self and eliminates its villainies. So people should not lose the rewards and good consequences of fasting just due to vain excuses. Give people iftari/breakfast and earn rewards as much as the fasting person earns,” he concluded his points.

Muslims Won’t Remain Silent over US Embassy Move to Jerusalem
In another part of his speech in Zahedan, prominent scholar of the Iranian Sunni community termed the US embassy move to Jerusalem a “crime” and “bitter memory”.

He called Muslim rulers to struggle for uniting the Muslim world instead of “expansionism” and “avarice”.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reacted to the US embassy shift to Jerusalem and said: “Inauguration of the US embassy in Jerusalem was a bitter, ugly and unpleasant act which hurt feeling of all Muslims of the world and other free-minded people.”

“Bait-ul-Maqdis is the first Qibla of Muslims and it has been under the control of Muslims for many centuries. Muslims deserve to rule on this city more than any other community, because they hold the last divine religion and book and they believe in the last prophet,” he added more.

President of Darululoom Zahedan further said: “The US embassy move to al-Quds is a big crime committed by the US officials, particularly Donald Trump. This act hurt religious feelings of Muslims of the world. However, the US officials wanted to decrease Muslims’ anger by congratulating Ramadan to them, but this deep wound cannot be healed by any balm.”

“Muslims will never forget the bitter memento of the US embassy shift to Jerusalem. God willing they will decide in this regard and they won’t sit doing nothing. Muslims will never forget Jerusalem,” he added more.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “This act of the US may provoke Muslims and get them away from disunion and divisiveness. The enemies of international Zionism have created disputes among Muslim countries and they misuse these differences.”

“It is the time for Muslim rulers to respect the borders of Muslim states and unite Muslims instead of expansionism, avarice and boosting hegemony. Shias and Sunnis should be together instead of making distance; they should be one hand before arrogant elements like the US and Israel,” the most influential Iranian Sunni leader clearly said.

Respecting rights of all makes Muslim world united
Khateeb of Sunnis went on to say more: “The Muslim world needs a real unity and solidarity which can be obtained by formatting comprehensive governments and respecting due rights of all communities, especially minorities.”

“Discrimination should be removed among nations in the Muslim world. All nations should be equipped with equal rights. Respecting rights is the most important factor that unites nations,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid urged: “I address all Muslim rulers everywhere that highlighting sectarian issues and differences is not remedy for any pain of Ummah. It is not going to make the Islamic world united; Muslims need to focus on common tenets and points and respect each other’s rights.”

“If Muslims do not want to be united and sit around the table of negotiation in the ongoing circumstances, then when and in which conditions they want to be unified? This is the time of vigilance; all Muslims including men and women, young and old should be awaken,” he emphasized.

Member of the MWL supreme council said: “The critical situation of the Muslim world is the result of negligence, dispute and heedlessness of Muslims. I’d like to invite all Muslims, including rulers, Ulama, elites, intellectuals, writes and different classes to take care of the ongoing conditions of the Muslim world and striving to unite Muslims should be the epigraph of their activities.”

At the end of his speech, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called on people to use minimum amount of water as the country has been suffering from famine.
