Shaikh Abdol-Hamid alluded to the formation of 12th cabinet in Iran and termed appointment of Sunni minister an opportunity for the new government.
Talking to tens of thousands worshipers in Zahedan on 28th July, 2017, Khateeb of Zahedan said: “It is the due right of the Iranian nation to have ‘capable’, ‘strong’ ministers and directors.”
He termed the atmosphere in which the 12th Iranian cabinet is going to be formed ‘critical’ and said: “This government is being formed in a sensitive and very critical situation.”
“The president variously has stated that the 12th government will be different than the 11th government,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid urged.
He said: “Weak ministers create discontent. The draftsmen should consider the capabilities and qualification of appointed ministers and directors.”
The most influential Iranian Sunni leader called on the government to reject the pressure of particular parties and wings. He said: “There are some groups and parties who put pressure on the government to dictate the president and impose their wanted ministers. In such cases only the qualification of directors, pleasure of people and national interests should be considered.”
“The most important thing is the consent and willingness of people not some figures and parties. The 12th cabinet should be national and only strong capable people should be appointed,” he underlined.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said: “Keeping in mind the regional and international, especially internal conditions, the 12th government should appoint Sunni minister.”
“Not only we consider the interests of the Sunni community, but also we consider the interests of Shia community and whole Iran and Muslim world by suggesting the government to appoint Sunni ministers. It will have an international reflection proving the open-mindness of the leaders of Islamic republic of Iran,” the rector of Darululoom Zahedan said.
Encouraging the government of Dr. Rouhani, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid called on him to refuse the objections of narrow-minded elements regarding the appointment of Sunni minsters and governors. He said: “Appointing capable Sunnis on higher positions is a service to Islam and Shia community around the world as all will take a lesson; they would know how to behave with their minorities.”
“The narrow-minded sides have put Iran back. Those who consider sect the ‘standard’ of qualification and differentiate Sunnis from Shias, they are not wise men of the nation,” he added more.
Khateeb of Sunnis further said: “We should have a global approach and extend our views by engaging Sunnis more in appointment and justly distribution of posts. It is our sympathy for the country and we believe in a united Ummah.”
Entrusting competent members of the nation in appointment, a clear example of trusteeship
In the first part of his speech, the eminent Islamic scholar shared his points on the importance of “trust” and said: “Trust and trusteeship are very important things in all divine religions, particularly in Islam. Honesty is accepted by wisdom, law, custom and civilization.”
“Trusteeship has been introduced as a great and vast principle in Islam that covers all aspects of human life. The Noble Qur’an, Shari’ah commands, teachings of the prophet PBUH and even our body parts are trusts in our hands. We should protect them well,” he added more.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid pointed out to some narrations from the prophet PBUH and said: “The last messenger of Allah has said: «لا إیمان لمن لا أمانة له و لا دین لمن لا عهد له»; “There is no faith for the one who cannot be trusted. There is no religion for the one who cannot uphold a covenant.” The words ‘iman’ and ‘amanah’ have been derived from one infinitive. Iman has roots in ‘amn’ and removing fear. Trustable people are the ones from whom no one fears. Rather people feel safe with them.”
The Hadith teacher of Darululoom Zahedan alluded to another Hadith in this regard and said: “Once a day, the prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, was among his companions, in response to a question he said: “When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour.” It was asked, “How will honesty be lost, O Allah’s Messenger?” He said, “When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour.”
“The people in Middle East stood against incompetent rulers. The Iranian nation’s uprising was also to topple the rule of incompetent rulers and authorities,” he underlined.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid concluded his points and said: “Still there are some rulers and presidents in the Muslim states who refuse to hear their nations. But they massacre their people and enjoy the power, too. It is the sign of the nearness of the Judgment day.”
