Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, Iran, mentioned ‘fasting’ a collection of orders to do or to not do as its correct and full accomplishment follows forgiveness and inner change.

Talking to tens of thousands on Friday, July 4, 2014, in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “To observe fast is not a single worship, rather it includes a group of acts; some should be done and some others should be avoided. Such a fasting is valuable and can help us on the Resurrection Day.”

He added more, “The Almighty revealed the Noble Qur’an in the blessing month of Ramadan. It is a book that can make Muslims prosperous in the both worlds if they carry out its directions. Ramadan has been famous and worth because of the revelation of the Qur’an in this month. In the same way, the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah have got honor and respect in the world due to the Qur’an. The heart of the beloved prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, has been the place for the Qur’an as he is ‘Sayyid’ (chief) of the children of Adam. Muslim Ummah got its respect from the Qur’an. The night of Qadr (destiny) is better than one thousand months just because of the Noble Qur’an.”

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan termed ‘distance of Muslims from the Qur’an’ the main cause of their failure and defeat. He said Muslims should learn, recite and understand the Noble Qur’an and then strive to guide others to the straight path. It is regrettable Muslims have the blessing of the Qur’an and yet they are respectless in this world with no bright future.

He mentioned the blest month of Ramadan one of the best plans of Allah Almighty for purification of mankind. Being hungry and thirsty is a mercy. Allah gave us one month to purify ourselves as Satan is imprisoned in this month. We should fight with the inciting self and observe fast, recite the Qur’an, donate on the path of Allah and offer prayers. Collection of these worships can bring positive changes. Observes should avoid glut at breakfasts and dawn meals. Spend money and donate as much as you can on orphans, widows and needy people like students of Madrasahs and Imams.

Khateeb of Sunnis concluded his points in the first session of his sermon by calling on the audience to avoid misdeeds like telling lie, backbiting and vilifying in Ramadan more than other months to get results of fasting.

Muslim World Needs a New Strategy
In the second part of the sermon, the outstanding Iranian Sunni leader urged on the Muslim leaders to reviews their ongoing stances as the current circumstances of the Muslim world show that it needs a new strategy.

He stated, “It is regrettable, the Muslim society suffers from many crises; violence, extremism and abnormalities have affected us. On the other hand, Islam and Islamic teachings have been spreading over the European and non-Muslim states as thousands of people embrace Islam for years. Thus the enemies of Islam have been conspiring to stop Islam and control Islamic activities by civil wars among Muslims.”

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan made it clear ‘intensification of ethnic, sectarian and tribal clashes’ was one of the plans of the enemies to divide Muslims and rule on them. The same is taking place in Iraq; the current situation of Iraq has made all Muslims worried. The important country of Iraq is prone to division. It is possible some other Muslim states would face similar changes in future.

Addressing the Iraqi nation, the member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars said, “I would like to request Iraqi scholars, intellectuals and all Iraqis to protect unity of Iraq; they should impede division of their country. Division of Iraq would make it a weak country. So, all Iraqi sects and ethnic groups are recommended to sit together and save their country by constituting a unity government.”

“Muslims must tolerate each other. Fighting and killing each other cannot be a good solution; we can get our due honor and prosperity by dialogue not violence. It is a big misfortune that different sects, ethnic communities and tendencies cannot tolerate each other. I believe civilized and advanced individuals and nations can show tolerance; those who cannot tolerate other people, they do not have civilization,” he added more.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid further said, “As extremism damages the Muslim world, in the same way, narrow-mindness and depriving others from their due rights damage the Muslim world. There are many people in the region as well as inside the country who do not recognize any right for their rivals. I think both of these two groups damage the country. Nobody should be deprived of his right just because he is a Sunni or Shia and Arab or Kurd.”

Calling on the Muslim rulers, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan pointed out, “I would like to request Muslim heads, scholars, Ulama and intellectuals from my small tribune to change and review their strategy; each condition has its own strategy and stance. I do not see any solution for the ongoing crises of the Muslim world but by dialogue, tolerance and constitution of unity and comprehensive governments.”
