Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan termed the grandson of the prophet, peace be upon him, Hussein bin Ali, example for Muslims in bravery and sympathy in his Friday sermon of Nov. 8, 2013.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid Isma’eelzahi talked on the topic of the uprising of Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, saying, “It was Muharram when the Almighty examined Sayyidana Hussein with the cruelty of Yazid. The martyrdom of Hussein had proved the incompetency and disability of Yazid in ruling on Muslims. He was not an eligible ruler for Muslims. ”

The eminent Sunni leader further said Yazid had committed two big blunders in his life; the tragedy of Harrah was the first where he assaulted Madinah. When the residents of Madinah refused the rule of Yazid, he stormed the city killing dozens of innocent Muslims. No one can forget that regretful event. The second tragedy was the martyrdom of Hussein and his comrades in Karbala. Imam Hussein had not gone for any battle; otherwise he would not have brought his family members and babies for fighting! The people of Kufah called on Imam Hussein to control the power in order to execute justice. They pledged allegiance to Muslim bin Aqeel, envoy of Hussein bin Ali, may Allah be pleased with all of them; when the soldiers of Ubaidullah bin Ziyad seized Hussein and his fellows, the residents of Kufah remained afraid reversing to support the grandson of the Last Messenger, peace be upon him.

Khateeb of Sunnis termed ‘martyrdom’ an honor for Muslims. He said martyrs had a great status. Imam and Hussein and his friends got a new life as martyrs, but Yazid and his soldiers lost their respect and honor. Yazid could not continue his rule for a long time; he suffered from a malady and died soon. All of the killers of Imam Hussein and his comrades died derogatively while the remembrance of Hussein cannot be removed from the minds.

“All Muslims love Hussein; he was very similar to the holy face of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, by shape and face. His face was kissed by the beloved prophet; he was the son of Ali and Fatimah, and grandson of the last prophet of Allah Almighty. He is an example for us in bravery and sympathy,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid underlined it was impossible that any Muslim dislike such dignified people. We curse on any power and rule which cannot withstand but by the bloodbath of great men. We believe the revolution of Imam Hussein was for the sake of implementation of justice and Islam. When he saw the power in the hands of ineligible men, he revolted. He never intended to gain power and conquer lands; the main ambition of Hussein was execution of justice in the world and protection of Islam and Muslims.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan stated more, “Yazid was a dictator; he was not ready to listen to his opponents. He used to consider himself needless from consultation and advice. Hussein got martyrdom in such a condition. It is an indisputable fact that Ahl-us-Sunnah love all households of the prophet, particularly the companions of them. There is no any Sunni Muslim to be careless in this regard; all Muslims love the family members of the prophet. We consider both the Companions and Households of the Prophet our sanctities. We love them and urge on imitation of them; we must follow their instructions step by step as they are our examples.”

Islam urges on patience in despair and tragedy
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid further said, “If some Shia Muslims think Sunnis do not care importance of the event of Karbala, it is due to ignorance of them. Sunnis consider all households of the prophet their saints and ideals. Sunnis have lots of narration on the virtues of the households. They mention their names every Friday in the Arabic sermons.”

Khateeb of Sunnis added more, “If we do not mourn as the Shias do, it does not mean we do not care what happened to the households of the prophet in Karbala; we believe a Muslim should show patience during calamities and despair. Islam orders its followers to be patient in such circumstances.”

“Even when we lose any of our dears, we do not dress black; it is the part of our culture as our jurisprudence forbids us changing dress during calamities,” he underlined.

At the end of his speech, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid condemned the assassination of the general prosecutor of Zabol city, main town of Sistan. He expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of the slain official.
