The leading Sunni leader in Iran urged it was impossible to overcome economic crisis without implementation of political amendments in his latest Friday speech in Zahedan.

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan talked about the current crucial situation of Iran in the Friday sermon of April 26, saying the entire Muslim world particularly Iran is going now through a different condition comparing with the past four years; everyone must the carry out his due responsibilities in the ongoing situation.

He added more, “As everybody is aware of the current unwanted circumstances including the premier authorities who admit the facts, being a responsible citizen of the country, I would like to share my ideas and suggestions in this regard. Some people may declare my words one-sided and partial, but I do not try to damage anyone. It is our duty, as a Muslim, to be will wishers of others.”

It is very common in the world, when any stance does not give fruits, then amendment is the only option. Many policies end up with deadlock; so I think the only option before us is to modify and review our internal and international stances. An accurate meditation is needed to form new policies, Shaikh-ul-Islam stated.

The eminent Islamic scholar further said, “It is amazing that some candidates of presidential election vow to reform economic policies without modification of domestic and foreign policies. None of politicians could resolve economic crises without amendment of politics. I am not in favor of negotiations with the US and other Western powers; I think we can overcome the economic crises in a short period only by political reformation. We can relay on our own people; if the authorities give liberties to political parties, media and newspapers to take the country out of a security atmosphere, the crises would be resolved in no time.”

The authorities should observe the activities of media sources; they must be free in their works. It was a blunder that a judge shut down 12 newspapers over a night few years ago! That man is facing troubles nowadays over some other charges. Politicians must not be kept in prisons; they should work freely under a fair framework. The entire nation from different backgrounds should enjoy freedom to talk and present their demands; then we can overcome the crises, he underlined.

In another part of his speech, the member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars alluded to the security crises in Syria and Iraq, saying both Shia and Sunni scholars must broaden their sights. Muslim clerics must not look at domestic and regional issues from a sectarian perspective; their views should be global and Islamic. The enemies of Islam have been striving to change the ongoing conflicts in Syria and Iraq into sectarian violence in order to weaken the Muslim world by such regional conflicts. So scholars have a very vital and crucial duty.

He pointed out towards the stance of Iran saying, “The rulers must be careful; they must not be partial and biased to support any particular side in such clashes. Instead, they can play an important role to intercede; we can bring all sides on the table of dialogue in Iraq and Syria to stop bloodshed. We must make serious efforts to extinguish the fire of civil war in Syria as much as we can by presenting suggestions which are liked by Allah Almighty and His servants.”

Best choice for presidency; the one who can resolve the problems of the Iranian nation and Sunnis
In response to the question that whom Iranian Sunnis would vote in the upcoming presidential election? The outstanding Sunni leader stated, “Iranian Sunnis have not pledged allegiance to any particular political wing or party. But the best choice in their view is the one who wants welfare of the entire Iranian nation in the first phase and the one who is better for Sunnis and can resolve their problems secondly. The Iranian Sunnis suffer from two main and major problems; apart form other problems, ‘religious discriminations’ and ‘limitation of religious freedoms in many cities’ make Sunnis to not feel good in their own country.

Addressing policy-makers and involved authorities, Shaikh Abdol-Hameed said they should extend the circle of elections; people would choose the one they think is better in their sight. Political parties and wings must not be forbidden to bring their candidates; it is not a just and rational stance to put limitations on others.

Selling immoral and harmful things is Haram

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah condemned vendition of some obscene stuff in the society in another part of his sermon. He said selling such vulgar items lead the society towards immodesty and addiction of drugs. Peddlers must know it is not suitable for any Muslim to be involved in vendition of obscene pictures, CDs, ampoules and tablets; income from such trades is free of blessings. All should avoid illegal and Haram acts; parents must take care of their children. Addiction and illicit relations threaten the modesty of the society.

Insulting of sanctities is ‘service to Zionism and global imperialism’
At the end of his speech, Shaikh-ul-Islam indicated to offensive words of an Iranian MP about the sanctities of Ahl-us-Sunnah in the Parliament and said, “We think insulting any sect and group is the clue of ignorance; always lowbrow people insult others. Blasphemy of our sanctities is not in favor of Shia or Sunni communities; it is free service to global Zionism and imperialism.

He thanked the representative of Sistan who showed his reaction over the insult of the pro-government MP.

It should be noted that the leading Sunni scholar of Iran, Shaikh Abdol-Hameed, has been urging on some factors to resolve the ongoing crises of Iran. He made it clear repeatedly that the country can get rid of the political and economic crises by:

*Reformation of domestic and foreign policies;

*Other nations should recognize the right of ‘peaceful nuclear energy’ for the Iranian nation;

*Nuclear weapons are not in the interest of the Iranian nation, opaque stances and behaviors should be over to stop more damages to the country;

*Free and just elections with participation of all ideologies;

*Removal of discriminative policies and giving more religious liberties to the Sunni community.
