Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan urged in his latest Friday sermon ‘Islam is justly balanced religion that teaches temperance in all affairs.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid began his speech of May 08, 2015 by the Noble Qur’anic verse: وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا, (And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you.) and said, “Islam is the religion of moderation and it teaches Muslims temperance in all aspects of life.”

“In the previous religions, there were some restrictions due to the misdeeds carried out by their followers. The Almighty wanted to punish and reform them as their circumstances needed it. Allah says in the Qur’an: “فَبِظُلْمٍ مِّنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُواْ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَاتٍ أُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ كَثِيراً”, (Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews We forbade them good things which were (before) made lawful unto them, and because of their much hindering from Allah’s way.) This verse indicates to the above-mentioned claim.”

He further said, “Islamic Shari’ah is clean from going to extremes. Islam is the religion of temperance since the beginning and until the last day. Allah Almighty has made Islam easy; it teaches tolerance and forgiveness.”

“When Allah made the rulings of Islam easy, why we should make them difficult? When some of the Companions decided to offer prayers the whole night, observe fast all days and live in celibacy, the Last Messenger of Allah denounced them strongly. It is because Islam is the religion of medium and moderation.”

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan said, “The way of the Prophet, peace be upon him, is also on the path of moderation and temperance. He, peace be upon him, was not hard with himself and his Companions, as well as he was not showing insouciance in deeds and in the affairs of Sahabah. We must worship Allah and pass our routine life according to Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him.”

Extravagance is against teachings of the Qur’an & Sunnah
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid termed ‘extravagance’ a bad habit and went on saying, “Ultraism (Israf) is not in accordance with the way of Sunnah and Qur’an. As the Almighty dislikes miserliness for children and family members, in the same way, He forbids prodigality. There must not be extravagance in clothing, food and other personal needs.”

Urging on temperance in all aspects of life, he stated, “If you buy any new thing for your home, donate the old ones to needy people. In marriage ceremonies, Walimah (food for guests) should be limited to their number. The surplus food must not be thrown in waste-bins; rather it should be given to poor and needy people. Unfortunately, many Muslims commit waste and they spend extravagantly.”

“In Iran, especially in Sistan-Baluchistan, people suffer from unemployment and financial crises; thus we need to be more temperate. A person should spend as his income. Rich people should donate to others and pay attention to needy men and women, orphans and families of prisoners,” Shaikh underlined.

Decrease expenses of marriage for youth
Sunnis’ Khateeb in Zahedan, Iran, underlined on paving the way for youth’s marriage and said, “If we decrease the expenses of marriage by temperance and hold such ceremonies according to Shari’ah and Sunnah, youth would not remain unmarried.”

“In the current situation when dozens of satellite TV channels, thousands of websites on the net and other sources spread nudity and immodesty in the society, we must ease marriage for youth and close the doors of vice and illicit relations.”

Shaikh called on the audience to take the matter of marriage serious and avoid going to extremes as some people make it secret while it should be publicize.

Alluding to another important issue, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan urged on medical tests before marriage. He said, “Thalassemia is one of the consequences of negligence in pre-marriage medical tests. As well as marriages should be registered in official bureaus. Unfortunately in our region people used to neglect registration of marriages and their lands and houses. Many citizens have not got identity cards; now all are facing serious problems in this regard.”

Employment of some Sunni elites in judiciary a ‘positive step’
Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan welcomed employment of some specialized Sunni citizens in the Iranian judiciary and said, “It is suitable, I thank the authorities in judiciary and the Supreme Leader on the positive steps taken to employ some elites of the Sunni community in Iran.”

At the end of his sermon, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid expressed his hope to see more specialized elites of universities and Islamic academies of Sunnis in courts and other offices. He said, “Sunnis of Iran live along with other sects and communities; they were with them in drought, the imposed Iran-Iraq war and other calamities. Now in the development, management and other interests of the country they must not be neglected.”
