In his latest sermon, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called the incident of martyrdom of Hussein ibn Ali and his comrades a ‘very bitter and misadventure tragedy’. He was talking to worshippers in Zahedan, Iran, on Friday, 31 Sep. 2014.

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan declared the revolt of Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, for the purpose of executing justice and getting rights not power.

Alluding to the martyrdom anniversary of Hussein ibn Ali and his comrades in Karbala, he said, “Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, is the grandson of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and an example for all Muslims. Muslims love and respect him.”

Expressing the reasons behind the revolt of Hussein ibn Ali, may Allah be pleased with them, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “When Yazid got the rein of power, he showed his incapability for governing. Hussein felt that the Qur’an and Sunnah as well as Islam and Muslims were at risk. He was afraid of a heritable power in the hands of any particular dynasty; a process that can pave the way for incompetent tyrant rulers. Therefore, he headed towards Kufah to ensure execution of justice.”

“The households, may Allah be pleased with them, had proved in the era of Hussein that they did not want power; rather they were eager to implement justice and Islamic commands in the society. He never followed up his personal interests. His revolt was just for Islam”, he added more.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan underlined, “The tragedy of Karbala was very bitter and unpleasant. By analyzing all sides of the incident, we can reach to the point that it was one of the bitterest and most unpleasant incidents before and after Islam. Some proclaimed Muslims commit crimes massacring innocent people to gain power and prolong their rule on them.”

Pointing out to some lessons which should be learnt by Muslims from the story of Hussein and Karbala, he stated, “Muslims should learn to struggle for justice and to get the rights of oppressed people. Bravery is a need for all that can be learnt from the revolt of Hussein ibn Ali, May Allah be pleased with both of them. He preferred martyrdom on the right path to bondage and an ignoble life.”

Emphasizing on the imitation of the teachings of Hussein ibn Ali, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “All Muslims, even some free-minded non-Muslims, are sad on what happened in Karbala, but they express their regret in different ways. The considerable point is that, we should follow his footprints and his moral. Being limited to repetition of his characteristics and story of martyrdom in Muharram without following him in personal and social life cannot be the sign of love to Hussein.”

“Sunni Muslims in the world are regretful and woeful over the incident of Karbala, too. If we do not wear black clothes or we do not have mourning processions, it is only due to our religious and juridical restrictions. Sunnis do not wear black even when they lose any of their blood relatives. Sunni Muslim scan mourn for their dead blood relatives only three days,” he added more.

Mawlana further said, “We were not in the era of Hussein; otherwise we would have taken arm to defend him and promote his cause if we had the worth of it. But today we can imitate him in his method, morals and tenets.”

Preachers & analysts of Ashura must avoid insulting sanctities of other Muslim sects
Khateeb of Sunnis urged on the respect of all Muslim sects calling on preachers and analysts of Ashura to avoid sacrilege. He said, “Sometimes due to some immoralities or conspiracies of the enemies of Islam we witness some problems. All Muslims should respect the sanctities of each other.”

“Unity demands our caution; we should urge on common points avoiding the differences of each sect to followers of that sect. sectarian disputes only defame Muslims in the world. I would like to recommend preachers and orators who analyze the incident of Karbala to avoid sacrilege strongly,” he further said.

Exaggeration on insecurity in Iranian Baluchistan disagrees with country’s interests
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid criticized reaction of some elements over the target killing of a teacher in Qasarqand district of Baluchistan in Iran. He said, “Target-killing of Sargazi, a teacher in Qasarqand, shocked all of us. I decried the incident in my last Friday sermon as well as in a trip to Saravan, I condemned the incident. But some elements magnify such incidents to get their personal interests. As we saw international media gave coverage to the terror.”

The most influential Sunni leader in Iran underlined, “Such exaggerations disagree with the aims and policies of the top leaders of the country. All individuals and wings should prefer on their personal and partial interests on the interests of Iran and Iranian nation particularly people of Sistan-Baluchistan.”

“In the previous days, some men of our community were gunned down including Bahram Bashandeh, a social worker and employee of commissioner house in Iranshahr city. But we did not allow anyone to clamor and give chance to enemies for creating troubles. Sistan-Baluchistan is a vast province where normally such incidents take place. Some ignorant people from the both sides want to boost sectarian disputes. We should be aware and cautions over our deeds and words,” Shaikh urged.

Criticizing the Iranian parliament, he asked the member of national parliament to support the new government in its causes and mission.
