Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid stated that the “government of national unity” will be achieved by employing and engaging proficient people of different ethnicities, sects and women in mega and regional administrations.
He was talking to tens of thousands worshipers in Zahedan, Iran on Friday 2nd August, 2024 where he considered “change and transformation”, “fulfillment of demands” and “resolving problems of the entire nation” the most important goals of people’s participation in the 14th presidential election.
People Voted for Dr. Pezeshkian to See Change and Solution of Problems
According to the official website of the Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol Hamid referred to the inauguration ceremony of the 14th president of Iran and said: “Dr. Pezeshkian expected the support of the Iranian nation and made promises to bring about change and transformation, and many of his promises were in line with the people’s wishes and expectations, and these promises made people to take part in polling.”
He said: “Those who voted for Dr. Pezeshkian, in fact they voted for change and transformation and to fulfill their wishes and demands, and to solve the problems of the whole nation. They hoped that Dr. Pezeshkian would solve the problems by fulfilling his promises. The issues that have been highlighted by Mr. Pezeshkian yet have been in line with the same promises made during the election campaign.”
Iran Does not Belong Only to One Class or Group; It Belongs to All Ethnicities, Sects, Women and Different Iranian Spectrums
The Friday Imam of Zahedan further noted: “All the people of Iran, including ethnic and religious communities, women, the young, and all spectrums are Iranians, and Iran is the home of these people and it belongs to this nation not anyone else. Some narrow-minded people think that Iran belongs to a certain group or religious sect, while Iran belongs to all people of Iran regardless of their faith and race.”
“Every country and government with whatever system it has is obliged to spread its umbrella over all people and treat everyone equally and not prefer some over others, but implement justice and engage the capable members of the whole nation in official posts”, he added more.
In an Islamic Political System, there should not be any Fear of Discrimination
Mawlana Abdol Hamid said: “The people of Iran expect discrimination to be removed and justice to be implemented. In a country, especially a country with an Islamic system, there should be no fear and feeling of discrimination; because from the point of view of Islam, injustice and inequality are an unforgivable and very big sin.”
He further said: “One of the important and prominent demands of the Iranian nation is that the posts should be handed over to competent people based on merit, and fairness should be observed among all ethnicities, religious communities, women and men. Officials should be so alert and act in such a way that no feeling of discrimination is in the society. Discrimination has very dangerous and lasting effects.”
Meritorious People of one Ethnicity and Sect should not be Preferred over another Sectarian and Ethnic Community
The Friday Imam of Zahedan said: “We hope that in the cabinet of the new government, they will consider both women and ethnicities and religious sects. “National unity” is achieved if there is equality among the meritorious people of the society in national and regional management, and one ethnic group and sect is not preferred over another ethnic group and sect, and the meritorious men are not preferred over meritorious women.”
While expressing his hope that Mr. Pezeshkian will be successful in fulfilling his promises, he said: “Fulfilling the wishes and expectations of the people and implementing justice, creating hope for life and solving concerns is a great success that can be achieved by a president and government.”
Economic Problems Have Really Exhausted People
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid further pointed out the economic and livelihood problems in Iran, and said: “Economic problems have really exhausted people. The national currency has lost its value. There was a day when a part of needs and expenses could be met with one million Tomans in the country, but today we have reached a situation where if an Iranian has ten million Tomans in his pocket and goes to the market, he does not know where to spend it; because he cannot afford even a small part of his needs.”
He made it clear: “Solving the country’s economic problems requires seriousness, long-sighted planning and political changes at home and abroad so that the credibility of the Iranian currency will return, the economic situation will improve, the sanctions will be reduced and the people will come out of this crisis.”
Sunnis should be Recognized in the Country
In the continuation of his speech, Friday Imam of Zahedan said: “Another important demand is that Sunnis should be recognized in the country. Also, they should be free to worship Allah without any obstacle, and the police and security forces should not persecute them for offering the prayers, prayer houses and worship. If the police and security forces perform a duty, it should be in line with freedom. Sunnis should have freedom in the field of education as well. The law has given this freedom. However, there are some disputable clauses in the constitution which should be changed and modified; but this constitution is also violated.”
“One of the biggest problems in our country is that the law is not implemented and anyone who has power, acts according to his power. Sometimes even a common soldier and agent imagines that he is the system; while he is not the system; he is an ordinary person who must fulfill his duty as an officer and soldier of the system,” he added more.
Mawlana Abdol Hamid further emphasized: “We hope that these wishes and demands of the Sunni community will be realized during the fourteenth government and that a Sunni will feel safe and have no fear anywhere in the country when he offers prays or teaches the Holy Quran and religious issues.”
Government of Pakistan should Listen to the Protestors in the Gwadar Sit-in and Address their Demands
In another part of his speech, the outstanding Iranian Baloch scholar reacted to the recent events in Balochistan province of Pakistan, and said: “Pakistan is a neighboring and friendly country, and the nations of these two countries have long-standing mutual interests and good relations with each other. Recently, at the invitation of some lion women, a large protest rally and sit-in has been held in Gwadar city of Balochistan.”
He pointed out that the protesters have demands such as the fact that a large number of their family members have disappeared and their wives and children are worried and disturbed. The families of the missing persons want to know the fate of their missing beloveds, and they want the government to free them from this uncertainty. Of course, they also have some other demands.”
The president of Darululoom Zahedan said: “It is the duty of all countries and governments not to suppress peaceful protest gatherings, but to sit with the protestors and listen to them. If they have reasonable and rightful demands, follow up them.”
“Every system and government has the duty to take care of its people; establish security, build infrastructures and provide people with the opportunity to get education and knowledge and make a living,” he added more.
Mawlana Abdol Hamid stated: “In the case of Balochistan province, our advice to both sides is to sit down together and solve their issues through dialogue and understanding. We also ask the officials of Pakistan to listen to the people of Balochistan and those who gathered in Gwadar, and pay attention to their demands and not allow peaceful gatherings and protests to be suppressed. Paying attention to people’s wishes helps everyone’s safety.”
We Strongly Condemn the Cowardly Assassination of Ismail Haniyeh/ the International Community should Decry Israel
Referring to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader said: “The assassination and martyrdom of Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political office in Tehran, was a very bitter event. We strongly condemn this cowardly assassination.”
He added: “This assassination was very sad and heavy for us in two ways; first because Dr. Ismail Haniyeh was one of the leaders who had many followers in sensitive places like Palestine and Gaza. Instead of the leaders being assassinated and killed, their existence should be used to solve the Palestinian issue and other issues. Why are the world and the big Muslim and non-Muslim governments of the world unsuccessful and unable to solve the Palestine issue?! There should be a fair solution and the Palestinian people should have their own independent country.”
“A person like Martyr Haniyeh could play a role in solving the problem, and the world community could use his potential and others like him to solve the problem,” he added more.
Mawlana Abdol Hamid further said: “The second sad part in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is that he was a guest of our country and the Islamic Republic of Iran was the host. Why was the sanctity of the host not considered?! Assaulting the guest of a country is very disgusting and ugly. Attacking a guest and assassinating a guest is actually an assault on the host and an attack on the dignity and honor of the host.”
He clarified: “Israel did not consider all aspects in this case and acted only based on emotions and discomfort. Our request to the whole world is to decry Israel for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and bring the Israeli government to account and resolve the issue so that, God forbid, a situation does not arise in which the flames of war spread to the entire region and everyone burns in the flames of war. All countries and governments have responsibility and duty in this field. We all should think about humanity and human rights.”
The Judiciary Organization of the Armed Forces should “Seriously” Follow up the Incident of Qaderabad, Khash
In the final part of his speech, Mawlana Abdol Hamid mentioned the recent incident in one of the villages of Khash city [in Iranian Balochistan], and said: “Last week, some military officers, I don’t know exactly what organization they were from, stormed Qaderabad village near Khash and there was a shooting in which a woman was killed and two other young men were injured.”
While expressing his regret for this incident, he noted: “It is really unfortunate that a woman was killed and other innocent people were injured due to the shooting of soldiers who are responsible for providing security and defense of unarmed and defenseless people! All officers who serve should always keep in mind that they are responsible for protecting people’s lives and property, and they should be benevolent and sympathetic to people and refrain from opening fire except in times of need.”
The Friday Imam of Zahedan further emphasized: “People expect the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces to follow up these types of cases seriously so that such incidents do not take place in the future. An officer who violates the law must always be questioned and held accountable.”
