Expressing his concern over the increase of economic and political problems in Iran, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader called on the authorities to listen to the voice of the people and fulfill their demands.
He was talking to thousands of worshipers in Zahedan before offering the Friday prayers of April 28, 2023.

Those who lose Allah and people have no supporter
“The maintenance of two pivots is essential for all governments and systems of the world. Maintaining these two axes will lead to success in all affairs. If scholars, leaders and all classes lose these two pivots, they will definitely fail; these two axes are Allah and people,” said Shaikh Abdol-Hamid during his Friday sermons of Zahedan, southeast Iran.

The president of Darululoom Zahedan said: “Those who disobey Almighty Allah will fail. Always be with Him. Allah is with the honest and truthful people, not with the hypocrites. The hypocrites always plan to destroy people’s lives, property, and take away their dignity. Allah is not with such people. Allah is not with those who offer prayers nights and days, but violate people’s rights. If you keep Allah, be sure that He is with you.”

“The second axis is people. People are important. If someone loses Allah and people, he has no shelter in the world and cannot stay; it does not matter if he is a scholar and Friday imam or a ruler etc. It is very important to obey Allah’s commands and to hear people’s voices. However, if we do not have these two big axes, nothing can save us,” he continued.

The best politician is the one who thinks about the interests of people
The Iranian top Sunni cleric urged on the necessity of tolerating people and said: “One of the best policies is that we seek the pleasure of Allah Almighty, and never displease Him. The best politician is the one who moves towards the people and thinks for their benefits. This policy and politician can win in the world. Those who seek personal interests, and do not prioritize public interests, will face challenges and problems.”

“I have said many times to the authorities that the satisfaction of Allah and people is vital,” he added more.

“Officials should be with people and must listen to their voices. No one should consider people as enemies and pose their voices against him. We have to listen to the people, correct our mistakes, and be with the nation,” the president of Darululoom Zahedan urged.

Officials have not taken serious measures to resolve economic problems
The eminent Iranian Sunni scholar further referred to the economic crisis in Iran by saying: “Unfortunately, economic crisis has been increasing in the country. The factories have been on strike on a high scale, and laborers say their salaries are low and insufficient. The salaries of employees are not enough. The value of the national currency has fallen so badly. Tenants complain that they cannot afford to pay money for rent. Rentals also complain. The current condition is very sensitive. The problems of people are serious.”

“There is no any positive step from the authorities to solve these issues. In the current circumstances, people should help each other and understand their conditions,” he believed.

Those who voted in the Islamic Republic, they are protesting and worried today
“As people have been facing a deadlock, they recommend a referendum to get rid of this situation. Some officials have denied this suggestion because they know well the outcome of such a referendum. Therefore, the best way is to find the solution. In my opinion, the best solution is to listen to the voice of people. In the 1979 revolution, 98 percent of the people voted for the “Islamic Republic” and said that this system could be the best option to solve problems,” said the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Zahedan.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid continued: “The people are protesting today. We should see what the nation wants. Officials must put the Iranian people first. Sit with people and see what they want. Satisfy the Iranian nation. No power and system in the world can remain forever by force and weapon. The people must support all systems in the world, whether Islamic or non-Islamic system. Those who voted for the Islamic republic are protesting inside and outside the country, and they want a big change.”

“Do not confront the people; because if you lose people, you lose everything. You are the children of the same people, and you should stay with them. If people want a change, surrender to their demand. The law enforcement and other forces are successful when they have public support,” he said.

Fannuj incident was very painful
Pointing out to the recent incident which took place in the Fannuj County, southern part of Iranian Balochistan, which left a teenager killed and some wounded in the shooting of security forces, Imam of the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan said: “Fannuj incident was very painful. According to the narration of the people, security officers chased two motorcycles and hit one with a vehicle, which overturned and killed one of the motorcycle’s passengers. Following this event, people gathered in front of the base; the security forces opened fire at people, and some people were injured. This action of the security forces was against the law enforcement. The law enforcement must be to the interests of the people, not against them.”

He added: “A few nights ago, in one of the streets of Zahedan, police officers were shooting towards people. Shooting in the streets creates fear in the city. If you see someone suspicious, you should stop him or register his plate number, not shoot him in a way where other people roam around. Many times, people run away because they have no driving license and police shoot them by bullets.”

“You have made the atmosphere of the city fearful by numerous check posts. Some of the famous scholars and tribal elders were investigated, and their sanctity has not been preserved. Such actions take the people away from officials. I would like to advise the authorities not to lose people. People are very important,” the Friday Imam of Sunnis further said.

As you identify and punish the murderer of the security man, identify and punish the murderer of the people
Regarding the Bloody Friday of Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said: “The judiciary officials had assured us that they will pursue the case fairly, but we hear they say that they cannot retaliate anyone and implement Qisas, because they do not know who exactly killed the people. This news is surprising. How did you find the murderer among a big crowd in the incident of Karaj, and you could not find the murderers of the Bloody Friday incident of Zahedan? We believe that the murderers must be retaliated, no matter if he is a police officer or an ordinary people.”

“Some claim that the incident of Bloody Friday was a “human error”, while the human error is that a person targets any animal, and hits a human, but the incident of Bloody Friday was “mere intentional murder”. Those who ordered to kill the people in the Bloody Friday must be tried and punished; this is a public demand. Those officers who killed or injured the people in recent demonstrations all over the country must be punished,” he underlined.

We have reports of torture in prisons/ an officer who tortures prisoners should be punished
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid added: “Recently, the Human Rights Organization has released a shocking report on violating human rights in Iran. We also have severer and more shocking reports. Furthermore, we believe that those officers who torture people in detention centers or give compulsory confession should be punished. In the Islamic republic, the officials must be abiding to the Islamic laws.”

In his last points during his Friday sermons of Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid pointed out that the internet has been cut off in Zahedan for the past several Fridays at the same time as the Friday prayers were held in the city, and said: “It has been more than a month since they cut the internet in Zahedan during Friday prayers. These words expressed here are benevolent and not biased. Interruption of the internet is necessary for all sectors, including businesses, journalists and writers, and others whose activities are related to the internet. Disruption to the internet disrupts their activities nationwide.”

“It is one of the national demands that the internet, as a national blessing, should not be cut off at the level of the country and in the city of Zahedan. May Allah Almighty help everyone to think correctly,” he concluded his points.
