Shaikh Abdol-Hamid of Zahedan, Iran said in his Friday speech of February 7, 2020 that the Islamic Republic of Iran gained victory with people’s support and its stability depends on fulfilling public demands.
The Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan said that at the time of the Islamic Revolution, people believed that they were following the Islamic scholars and Ulama were more aware of the precepts of Islam; because of this hope, people followed the founder of the revolution and then the Islamic Revolution was succeeded to step down the ex-regime.
The Iranian Sunnis leader pointed to some factors that led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said there were injustice and cruelty at that time in Iran and the interests of the country were looted by foreigner powers.
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid emphasized that the demands of the people should always be respected because the Islamic Revolution was a popular revolution.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added that officials should response to people’s demands.
He believed that the implementation of justice and freedom were among demands and slogans of the people at the beginning of the Islamic revolution and they should not be neglected and refuted.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged that people should have freedom of press and speech.
Injustice and discrimination should be confronted
The Imam of Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan emphasized on the necessity of implementation of justice and elimination of discrimination and said: “Justice should be implemented and discrimination should be eliminated because injustice and discrimination have no place in Islam”.
“Authorities should confront the discrimination and injustice; discrimination should be uprooted; all Iranians have equal rights. The Islamic republic of Iran belongs not to a particular party or sect; it belongs to all Iranians”, the most influential scholar of Sunnis in Iran said.
He insisted that Islam should be considered in all scenes.
“Our views should be Islamic and broad, not sectarian and limited; sectarian views undermine others’ rights, but Islamic view is broad and it respects and ensures due rights of all”, he added more.
The Sunni community is worried about its future
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid believed that Sunnis’ rights have been violating in Iran and he added that after forty-one years since the Islamic Revolution, Sunnis have not yet achieved their rights despite being present in all political and social national events. They have defended the country; unfortunately they have not yet been achieved their due rights.
“Although there is a little concern about developmental services, but there are concerns and complains about the engagement of government jobs and discrimination in this regard”, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said.
He added that in the cities and towns where Sunnis were in minority, their religious and civil rights had been denied. They cannot establish prayers as they want and they cannot educate their children according to their jurisprudence.
“Sunnis complain and were deprived of religious freedom in major cities”, he said.
Sunnis of Ahwaz and Kerman complain of religious pressures
“Officials were expected to help Sunnis in establishing prayers, but unfortunately Sunnis still face religious pressure in many cities”, the president of Darululoom Zahedan said.
He said that Sunnis from Ahwaz and Kerman complain of religious pressure and they were concerned about establishing prayers and holding religious ceremonies.
He urged that barriers and illegal obstacles should be removed so that everyone can achieve the freedom.
He said: “Non-Muslims should also achieve their freedom who do not think like us”.
Meritocracy must be considered in distribution of government jobs and posts
The Iranian Sunnis leader urged that meritocracy should be considered and realized in engagement government jobs and distribution of posts.
He complained that meritocracy was not fully implemented in the country.
“The sect should not be written in job forms, because this is against the international customs; it’s enough that we are Iranians then we are Muslims”, he said.
The Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan pointed out to the consequences of narrow minds in the society, saying that the narrow minds were not more likely to hit the system than the external enemy.
He said that Allah does not help the narrow-minded people.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid called on the government for implementation of justice according to the Islamic principles as our religious ancestors did such as the Caliph Ali and Hussein may Allah please with them.
While defending Sunnis’ rights, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said that Sunnis have not yet achieved their legal rights during the time of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He urged that Sunnis’ rights should be respected all over the country.
Candidates should be Qualified According to their Capabilities
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid pointed to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iran and said that intellectuals of all faiths should be qualified without consideration of their religious and ethnic backgrounds.
He said that a pious person who has no a high vision and capability to serve people would not be able to run the election.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid believes that diversity in elections helps us to move country’s affairs forward.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid urged that Iran belongs to all Iranians. All Iranians have equal rights.
He added that they have fought against aggression strange powers and have defended their homeland over so many years.
“They deserve to be qualified to run the election to move country’s affairs forward”, he said.
