Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged in a part of his speech of 6th Sep. 2019 that Sayyidana Hussein bin Ali’s uprising was not for obtaining power and worldly interests, rather his uprising was for “implementation of justice” and “protection of Islam”.

He said in the main gathering for the Friday prayers in Zahedan, southeastern Iran: “Imam Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, gave the world a lesson of manhood, bravery and resistance against oppressors and fake Muslims. He was not thirsty for power and governing. Rather he stood to protect Islam, implement justice and enjoin people to good and forbid them from bad where he was martyred on that path.”

“All Muslims, including Shias and Sunnis, and even free-minded non-Muslims are sad and regretful over the tragedy of Karbala where Imam Hussein and his comrades were martyred. If we were alive and present at the incident of Karbala, we would stand along with Imam Hussein against the corps of Ubaidullah bin Ziyad with honor,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid underlined.

He added more: “The love of Ahl-e-Bait is in the hearts of all Muslims. Sunnis think that the main point in showing love for the household of the prophet is to imitate their ways and follow up their teachings.”

“It is the sign of real love for the prophet PBUH and his companions and households to follow their directions and way of life. Their worships, piety, morals and support for poor should be examples for us,” president of Darululoom Zahedan said.

He further said: “Many people think that Sunnis are heedless and apathetic over the martyrdom of Sayyidana Ali, Hussein and other households of the prophet, while we are sorrowful on the martyrdom of Othman, Ali and Hussein, may Allah be pleased with all of them, who were martyred by those who claim to be Muslims. Sayyidana Omar was martyred also ruthlessly.”

Sunni jurisprudence denies black dressing and prevalent mourning
Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan shed light on the juridical viewpoints of Ahl-us-Sunnah about mourning and facing difficult times.

He said: In the jurisprudence of Sunnis dressing black and mourning as Shias do are not authorized and legal. If we lose our parents and closest relatives, we just mourn for three days without dressing black.”

“The verses of the Qur’an and Hadiths suggest us to show patience in difficult times. So Sunnis act upon these directions of the Qur’an and Sunnah; it does not mean they are heedless about what had happened with the households of the prophet, peace be upon him,” Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said.

He said more: “Respect and love for the households of the prophet PBUH is one of the common points of Shia and Sunni Muslims. As Sunnis name their children Ali, Fatimah, Khadijah, Hassan, Hussein, Reza and etc. and it is a proof which shows their love for Ahl-e-Bait.”

Aggression against religious ceremonies is Haram
The most outstanding Iranian Sunni leader urged on preserving respect of different sects’ tenets and sanctity.

He said: “Shia brothers should organize their religious gatherings and ceremonies peacefully without any hesitation. No one is authorized to create any obstacle and problem over religious ceremonies of our dear brothers.”

“It is illegal and a Fitnah to attack on mourning rites and processions. Everyone should be free to hold his religious ceremonies. Sunnis are recommended to sit at home on the ninth and tenth Moharram,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said.

Sahabah loved Allah & His last messenger
In the first part of his Friday speech, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed “love of Allah” natural expressing some examples of the Companions’ love for Allah and His messenger.

He said: “Billions of people loved Allah and worshiped Him wholeheartedly. As well as, many Muslims used to love Rasoulullah, peace be upon him. They were ready to lose their all relatives and friends, but not the prophet PBUH.”

“The event of migration from Makkah to Habashah/Ethiopia and Madinah shows the deep love of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with all of them, for the last messenger, peace be upon him. It was the love of them which made difficult times and long migration easy for Sahabah. The life of every companion was full of love and obedience,” Mawlana Abdol-Hamid underlined.

He underlined: “The faith and love of Sahabah were real and actual. Unlike today’s Muslims as many of them suffer from weak faith; they prefer various kinds of political, economic and friendly relations on the orders of Allah and His messenger. We claim to love Allah while it is difficult for us to attend mosques for the morning prayers.”

“Rationality & sobriety”; characteristics of love in Islam
President of Darululoom Zahedan shed light on the characteristics of love in Islam and said: “Islam is the religion of love, action, obedience from the owner of Islam and kindness.”

“But a love with rationality and sobriety is authenticated in Islam. Islam is not the religion of emotions; a love which is submitted before emotions and goes against rationality and the regulations of Islam is not authenticated,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid alluded to some lessons from the tragedy of Karbala and said: “The tragedy of Karbala was very bitter and heartbreaking. Sayyidana Ali and all of his children used to support the caliphs including Moawiah. They saw Sayyidana Moawiah tolerable and they did not revolt against him.”

“When Yazid took the power and proved his incompetence and lack of wisdom and piety, Imam Hussein and some of the companions denied to swear allegiance with him just because of Islam and justice,” he further said.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid pointed out to the incident of Hussein’s martyrdom and said: “When the people of Kufah wrote him letters calling him to migrate to Kufah, he felt that he should show responsibility. But the people of Kufah broke their promise and accompanied the army of Bin Ziyad and surrounded Imam Hussein and his comrades and family at Karbala. But Hussein denied to surrender and accept abjection. It was treason with the offspring of the prophet PBUH.”
