Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid termed Ramadan the month of change and an opportunity for Islamic and social vigilance calling on worshipers to help poor and needy people more than other months.
Talking to the Sunni worshipers in Zahedan on Friday 1st June, 2018, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan said: “Allah Almighty has bestowed us the holy month of Ramadan to give us an opportunity for resisting against the spirit of lasciviousness which provokes people to commit crimes. The spirit of lasciviousness makes human beings arrogant, egotist and greedy. The fast has been obligatory in order to make us victor before the self and Satan.”
“Allah Almighty has brought this month to strengthen our relation with the Almighty. The fast of Ramadan has come to purify our souls and change us,” he added more.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid further said: “Recite the holy Qur’an with meditation. Reciting with fasting is influential; by fasting the way for the Noble Qur’an will be paved. Recitation during Ramadan is different than other months. It is the month of celebrating the Qur’an.”
“Ramadan is the month of exercise to leave sins. As sick people get some regimen and continence from doctors while taking medicine, a fasting person also should avoid from misdeeds while observing fast. Otherwise, s/he will not get the expected results from fasting,” he underlined.
President of Darululoom Zahedan termed Ramadan the month of change and said: “Ramadan and the fast in this month is to bring change and social and Islamic vigilance. As a Muslim we should know our duty in society. We should change ourselves and work hard to be after Ramadan better than before Ramadan.”
“This divine guest should purify us. In the last ten days of Ramadan worship more and the best thing is to sit for E’tikaf in mosques. Get advantage of Ramadan and prepare a provision and ration for the journey of the Hereafter,” he added more.
Concluding his points in this part, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “Ramadan is the month of donation, charity and supporting needy people. Take part in welfare activities and support Islamic schools, poor and needy people and families of prisoners. Free prisoners who are in jail just because they cannot pay the fine which is imposed by courts.”
Authorities and masses should not give chance to fanatics
In another part of his speech, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid alluded to the incident of insulting and abusing Baloch community and Islamic sanctities by a university lecturer and said: “An insulting video was widely broadcast last week which made the society inflamed and critical.”
He thanked the related authorities who took action immediately against the accused man and informed the audience that investigation was underway to find the facts about his act.
“I’d like to thank students, academians and common people who showed inhibition. They controlled their feelings and acted according to a message which was delivered to them [by Shaikh Abdol-Hamid] as the opportunist elements could not find a chance to destabilize peace and create religious disputes,” the most influential Iranian Sunni leader said.
He called on the officials to be alert and vigilant and said: “We have lots of bad-wishers who want to create sectarian disputes which will harm people more than others.”
At the end, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid asked the city officials to resolve developmental problems of Shirabad town of Zahedan that has been suffering from lack of schools, drinking water and good streets and alleys. He said: “One of the slogans of the revolution was ‘supporting poor people’. The weak classes of the society should be supported more than others in the Islamic republic.”
