Welcoming a statement of the Iranian supreme leader, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid has urged on religious freedom of the Iranian Sunnis and called forbidding from prayers ‘humiliating’.

He was talking to tens of thousands worshipers in the capital city of Sistan-Baluchistan on Friday 23rd Sep. 2016.

Khateeb and Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan alluded to the recent statement of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and said, “The supreme leader has urged ‘Don’t provoke feelings of Sunnis’. We also think the feelings of none of Muslim sects should be provoked.”

“The leader has previously stated insulting the Clean Wives of the Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, was equal to insulting the Messenger of Allah. Such statements leave positive effects about the unity of Muslims around the world,” he underlined.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan expressed his analysis on the statement of the supreme leader, saying, “As Muslims should avoid from insulting each other’s holy personalities, in the same way mocking Namaz (prayers) of others or creating obstacles for the prayers of Shias or Sunni is humiliating. We have been witnessing some elements forbid Sunnis from offering prayers.”

“Creating obstacles for the prayers has not been approved neither by the Shia Imams nor the other sanctities were showing narrow sights in this regard. The Iranian constitution and elite figures of the country also cannot be happy with restricting Sunnis on offering prayers,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid made it clear.

Forbidding from prayers harms Shia-Sunni ties
Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan said, “I’d like to address the ones who create problems for the prayers of the Sunnis that this is against the law and the path of piety and well of the elite officials of the country.”

“No doubt, such illegal acts harm our unity badly giving extremists more excuses. Sunnis’ feelings shouldn’t be provoked by such acts. Respect the dominant brotherhood and sobriety in the country,” he added more.

Fighting against ignorance, the biggest Jihad
In the first part of his speech before Sunni worshipers in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid welcomed the delegation of the Education Office in Sistan-Baluchistan. Then he shed light on the importance of education and said, “Education is important for all nations across the world. Human beings have everything thanks to education and knowledge.”

He further said, “Knowledge plays a key role in the development and honor of nations. They can conquer the peaks of advance by education and knowledge.”

“Ignorance and illiteracy are the biggest threats to human society, the region and country. War on ignorance and illiteracy is the biggest Jihad and resistance. It is not only the duty of the Education Ministry, rather all classes of the society have responsibilities in this regard,” Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah underlined.

He expressed his regret on the phenomenon of ‘school dropout’ in Sistan-Baluchistan and said, “Dropout and academic failure are dangerous; children who leave schools without completing their educational duration, they can create problems for their families and society. Parents and guardians should remain in contact with schools and teachers checking the condition of school children.”
