Expressing his satisfaction with giving membership to a Sunni MP in the Presiding Board of the tenth Majlis of the Iranian parliament, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed such positive acts useful for enhancing Islamic unity and brotherhood.

Talking to the Sunni worshipers in Zahedan city of Sistan-Baluchistan on Friday 3rd May, 2016, the prominent Islamic scholar said, “In the last Friday gathering we presented an expectation that there must be at least one member in the Presiding Board of the parliament.”

“By the blessings of Allah, that demand has been brought to act and now we are happy there is a Sunni member in the executive board of the Majlis. Appointing a Sunni citizen as the ambassador of Iran to Vietnam and Cambodia as well as choosing a Sunni MP for the Presiding Board are satisfying steps.”

“Although a Sunni observer in the Presiding Board of the Majlis may not have much authority, but such steps help the process of Islamic fraternity and unity. It would leave positive effects not only in the region but in the entire world. If we express our some expectations, it is just for protecting the dignity of the society and enhancing unity and solidarity in the country,” he added more.

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan further said, “We hope such working acts would continue which would make the enemies of Islam disappointed. Those who spread disappointing speeches, they should know pursuit of demands by dialogue is fruitful. The authorities are satisfied with the unity and fraternity rule on the country. Continuance of this process supports demands and expectations to be substantiated.”

He alluded to the statement of president Rouhani among the people of Mahabad, northwestern Iran, and said, “The president has said among the people of Mahabad in Azerbaijan Gharbi province that there must not be any difference between members of ethnic and religious communities. None of ethnic and sectarian communities can consider itself superior to others, but all are equal in Iran and their capable members should be employed.”

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan urged, “Islamic revolution of Iran is said to be an example for other revolutions, thus it is worthy for the country to be example in giving rights to religious, sectarian and ethnic minorities.”
