Shaikh Abdol-Hamid urged on avoidance from misdeeds in his sermon of Jan. 08, 2016 in Zahedan, Iran, calling ‘reformation of society’ the duty of all.

Talking to tens of thousands worshipers in the southeastern city of Iran, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan began his Friday speech by the Noble Qur’anic verse: and said, “Meditating for reformation is the duty of whoever is related to the religion; first of all they should strive to purify their souls, then their family members and the rest of the society. Real Muslims always work hard and make plans to purify their societies.”

“Forbidding misdeeds, corruption, differences and division of Ummah is the duty of every Muslim. In this regard, Ulama and Islamic scholars have heaver responsibilities as they have more knowledge of Shari’ah. Allah Almighty has warned Ulama and wise people about their responsibilities; if they do not carry out their duties, they would be punished by the Almighty,” he added more.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan further said, “The societies which go towards misdeeds, negligence, crimes and violation of rights, if fact they go to ruination and depravity.”

Alluding to some social misdemeanors and offenses, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “Unfortunately, still there are some clues of the era of ignorance before Islam; ethnic bigotry, lie, accusation and intolerance are the clues of ignorance. Ignorant people take children and old men hostages to get their loans back, while Shari’ah calls on showing mercy to children and old men. Only the debtors should be questioned in courts not their relatives.”

“One of the sinister conspiracies of the enemies is prevalence of misdeeds and offenses in the society. They struggle to eliminate the clean Islamic culture by satellite TV channels replacing it with their decadent culture. Thus all of us should be vigilant.”

The eminent Islamic scholar concluded his points in this part of his sermon, saying, “Striving to reform the society is the duty of all parts of any society. Every sane and wise person has responsibility to make efforts for cleaning the society from misdemeanors. By sermon and giving advice, we should stop sins. Disobedience of the Almighty is a big issue; Muslims must avoid His limits and act upon the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.”

Iran-Saudi row is against interests of the Muslim World
Alluding to Saudi-Iran severed ties over the execution of a Shia cleric and other incidents after it, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed cutting ties of Iran and Saudi Arabia against the interests of the Muslim world.

In the second part of his sermon, the outstanding Iranian Sunni leader, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid pointed out to the execution of Nimr Baqir al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia and said, “Hanging of Shaikh Nimr was a shocking incident that caused worries and incitement of feelings. Shaikh Nimr was a Shia cleric who had fans after imprisonment in Saudi Arabia.”

He added more, “The execution of Shaikh Nimr left negative effects in Shia society hurting their feeling, but it made both Shia and Sunni Muslims worried. Because killing religious scholars of any sect and religion like Christianity hurts feeling of people. But if someone commits murder then according to the commands of Shari’ah he should be tried and can be killed as nemesis. But without committing murder, the person, especially when he is a cleric, must not be killed.”

“As hanging Nimr Baqir al-Nimr has many loses for the society, we announced our dislike over the execution. It was possible to change his punishment to imprisonment or any way closer to sagacity.”

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan alluded to some incidents in reaction of Nimr’s execution and said, “Attacks on the Saudi embassy and consulate in Tehran and Mashhad were contrary to the position of the Iranian nation. According to Shari’ah, traditions and international laws all embassies, consulates and diplomates should have full security. Wayward elements must not act as they wish and then damage the prestige and credit of a nation and regime.”

“It is clear none of the officials, including the Supreme Leader and other authorities, was happy with the incident and it made them worried. We hope the authorities will take the necessary steps to forbid wayward groups from damaging the respect of any nation and regime,” he underlined.

Expressing his view on the sever relations of Iran and Saudi Arabia, the member of the MWL said, “Cut ties of Iran and Saudi Arabia is not in accordance with the interests of the region and Muslims, rather it harmful for the Islamic society. Both Iran and Saudi Arabia enjoy a special status in the region; they are known as two important countries of the Muslim world that can resolve the crises and disputes of the region. The tension between them must not be severed. Muslim states should not cut their bilateral ties; it damages nations and Muslim world. We hope they would restart their diplomatic ties by negotiation and discretion.”

The law of capital punishment must be reviewed
Khateeb and Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan city criticized the law of capital punishment in some countries and said, “Capital punishment is not a good thing and it is the severest punishment. There are only few cases where capital punishment can be implemented. Thus we recommend all Muslim and non-Muslim states where capital punishment is legal to review in this law.”

“The laws of any state need reviews and change if it is necessary. The laws in any country are not revealed from the sky, rather they have been formed and designed by human beings; even if they are jurists and scholars, they may commit mistakes,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid concluded his points.
