The outstanding Iranian Sunni leader urged “July 17, 2015 is the 30th day of Ramadan” and Ulama don’t believe in Taqyah on such occasions as some people blame.
Talking to tens of thousands worshippers in Zahedan, Iran, on Friday (30th Ramadan in Iran), Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “Different committees of Ulama deployed for moon sighting in different regions. I strongly assure you the crescent of Shawwal has not been sought in Sistan-Baluchistan. We are sure today (17 July) is 30th Ramadan.”
“Some people claimed that they had seen the moon, but we could not confirm their testimonies. There are some rulings and principles for accepting testimonies. Once a time we refused testimonies of 27 persons.”
Keep remembering Allah after Ramadan
In the first part of his sermon, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid began the speech by the Noble Qur’anic verses: كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِيكُمْ رَسُولاً مِّنكُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمْ تَكُونُواْ تَعْلَمُونَ *فَاذْكُرُونِي أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَاشْكُرُوالِي وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ (just as (you have found from this: that) We sent the Messenger to you from among you, who recites to you Our Revelations; who purifies your lives; who instructs you in the Book and in Wisdom and teaches you those things that you did not know. O remember Me and I will remember you, and give thanks to Me and be not ungrateful.)
He said, “Reciting the Qur’an and its teachings is the biggest blessing and honor for this nation. It is the way to purify souls. Allah Almighty enjoins His last messenger to recite the Qur’an for people and purify them.”
He added more, “We always should remember the Almighty. He has ordered us to carry out some worships in the Qur’an, but only in one place Allah asked us to frequently exercise a worship that is remembrance. Allah says: ‘Believers, remember Allah much’.” In another place Allah says ‘Allah’s remembrance is of even greater merit.’ Thus we should always remember Him.”
Khateeb of Sunnis called on the audience to keep worshipping and remembering Allah after the end of Ramadan, saying, “Abide with the rituals and worships after Ramadan. Recite the Noble Qur’an, offer prayers, donate on the path of Allah and do not show negligence in any worship.”
At the end of his sermon, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid asked worshippers to prepare for Eid prayers instantly after Fajr prayers. Sleeping and even Nafl prayers cannot be offered after Fajr prayers of Eid day.
