The most influential Iranian Sunni leader, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, has called on the new chief of the state-run radio and TV channels to strive for obtaining trust of people.

Writing an open letter to “Dr. Mohammad Sarafraz”, newly appointed chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting organization, Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan city has urged, “IRIB has very sensitive responsibilities over the nation as the Muslim world is experiencing a critical situation. This media group should work hard to gain trust of people as there are many rival satellite TV channels.”

The prominent Islamic scholar asked Dr. Sarafraz to ensure respect of all ethnic and religious communities in Iran and across the globe in the state media.

“The culture of ethnic communities must not be humiliated. There must be useful programs for introducing people’s culture and traditions in their native languages. As well as, we expect to hear the voice of Sunnis’ Azan on IRIB in Sunni-majority provinces,” he added more.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid called on the new chief of IRIB to make the state media unbiased completely without showing any kind of partiality regarding particular parties, wings and groups.

He concluded his points by demanding the officials of IRIB to utilize the capabilities of Sunnis’ intellectuals in policy making boards and other higher positions in the state media.
