The outstanding Sunni leader, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid Isma’eelzahi, expressed his happiness over the release of Iranian hostages congratulating their release to the entire nation.

Talking to the official website of the Sunni community in Iran, SunniOnline, on Sunday, April 6, he said, “The abducted border guards have been released only by the respect of the Noble Qur’an and nation without giving any tribute. I would like to congratulate the leader, president, and the entire nation specially the families of the freed guards.”

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid told our correspondent exclusively, “Islamic and national duty stood us to follow up the case of the hostages. We are sorry over the absence of the fifth guard who has been shot dead. We hope his corpse will be transferred to his family soon.”

In response to the question about the members of negotiating team, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan said, “We formed a team of some influential elders by the support of the governor (Sistan-Baluchistan), vice-governor and other pertinent departments. I dispatched this team with a copy of the Noble Qur’an and a message to ask the abductors to release the hostages.”

Pointing out to the demands of the abductors and some other details of the negotiations with Jaish al-Adl, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan underlined, “The abductors had asked for release of some prisoners in exchange and some other demands, but finally they agreed to free the hostages only for the respect of the Noble Qur’an, Ulama and people. We received the hostages inside Afghanistan territory in an impassible mountainous area.”

“The team of elders and Ulama has encouraged the abductors to resolve their problems and demands via peaceful ways and dialogue; as I heard, they expressed their readiness to have negotiations. The state and officials also should work hard to resolve problems and crises by dialogue and mutual talks. Violence is not a suitable option to end the crises in Iran and our province,” the member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed the release of the Iranian hostages a great achievement that was the result of putting trust on the Almighty and people. “The security of Iran can be ensured by the help of people as we could bring our guards back to home by the help of people,” he added more.

Alluding to the wave of thanks giving messages and letters to Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan by different classes of the society, he said, “I and my colleagues do not have any expect from anyone; we took this step only on the basis of philanthropy, and Islamic and national fraternity.”

The crisis of drought resolved in Sistan by ‘public negotiations’
In another part of his interview, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid pointed out to the effective role of non-official elements in resolving the crisis of drought in Sistan region, saying, “We sent a delegation of elders to Afghanistan by relying on Allah and cooperation with the governor; as there is a long strong relation with the Iranian and Afghan nations, the Afghan officials agreed to give the share of Iran from the irrigation right. By the blessings of Allah, now all rivers and aqueducts are full of water in Sistan [after 15 years]. It is a national achievement for the country which has been obtained by the blessings of Allah and the trust of people.”

Urging on the necessity of giving chance to people and social players, Mawlana Isma’eelzahi said, “The officials should consider the views of experts more to root up people’s economic problems; otherwise building concrete walls at borders and hanging culprits cannot stop narcotics trafficking. After 35 years, this phenomenon increased more instead despite harsh sentences. Execution and hard sentences cannot be proper solutions to problems like drug trafficking.”
