Decrying the abduction and creating violence in Sistan-Baluchistan, southeastern Iran, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid Isma’eelzahi termed such unjustified acts ‘big cruelty to the Sunni community of Iran’ in the Friday gathering of Sunnis in Zahedan on Feb. 14, 2014.

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan alluded to the incident of kidnapping some Iranian border guards, saying, “In any situation, particularly in the new circumstances when all Iranian sects and ethnic communities are optimistic on their future, such acts cannot be called correct. Abduction is an incorrect act always. Creating violence makes the province unrest and investors will not head to our deprived province.”

Expressing his satisfaction over the new atmosphere of the country, he added more, “All praises due to Allah, people are now enough knowledgeable; they can easily differentiate ‘bad’ from ‘good’ as they analyze the events. The nation knows well investors are supported by the new government. This government really wants to fight with unemployment and control inflation. We are hopeful our province and country will be developed more and more; a bright future of the country can be seen.”

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah mentioned the Iranian nuclear program in a part of his speech, saying it is very good that Iran has reached to an agreement with the world powers on the nuclear case. People have been suffering a lot due to the disputable issues; now after the inspection of nuclear plants it has been clear that Iran does not strive to get nuclear weapon. But it is the right of the Iranian nation to have access to peaceful nuclear energy; no one can deprive us from this due right.

Counting “removal of discrimination” and “respecting religious and ethnic sects” some of the main approaches of the new government, he said, “The cabinet of Dr. Rouhani wants to put religious and ethnic groups on their due position and remove discrimination and inequality from the country. Mr. Rouhani has been elected by the almost majority of the Iranian nation; he has promised to implement law and to treat all Iranians as the first-class citizens”, he further said.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan underlined on employment of all citizens, regardless to their race and sect, only due to their capabilities. He said, “The nation expects the rulers to end discriminative stances and behaviors. We appreciate the president’s statement that all are equal before the law and capable members of all communities should be given chances to take part in the fate of their country.”

Pointing out to the unrest incidents, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “Whoever gets weapon and abducts commits cruelty to the Sunni community; Sunnis do not accept insecurity and violence, they condemn such acts and think these militants have no foresight.”

Khateeb of Sunnis asked the kidnappers to release the hostages. He said the entire nation is worried over the incident. Abducted soldiers should return home. “I want the wish of all of you; even I am propitious of my opponents. I think for the prosperity of the whole Iranian nation including Shia and Sunni communities.”

Addressing the opponent of the regime, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said, “The environment of dialogue rules upon the country now; so you can convey your message via peaceful channels. Take the advantage of it and do not create violence and insecurity. We want peace not violence.”

The case of the Iranians without identity cards must be resolved
The outstanding Sunni leader indicated to the issue of Iranian citizens who have not taken identity papers, saying there are many Iranian citizens without cards. On the other hand, thousands of people, despite holding identity papers, have been declared “suspicious Iranians” and some classified “forbidden from social services” only on the basis of false and partial reports. These are public concerns and the pertinent officials should resolve these cases as soon as possible. Of course all of them are not really Iranians, but officials should check and find the facts.

“Many of citizens did not get identity cards in the previous regime to save themselves from military service and other problems. We do not support fake cards but the citizens of Iran should get their rights. As well as, some police men arrest women and children and shift them to refugee camps without any male Mahram; it is against the Islamic laws,” he urged.

Natural Resources Organization should show flexibility in housing of villagers
Alluding to the second ‘public concern’ of the people in Zahedan and suburb areas, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “I have received many reports and complaints from villagers on the hard behavior of the Natural Resources Organization. This department does not permit villagers to build new houses and in some cases demolishes old buildings. NRO must not destroy villages on the pretext that they have no documents; there are many historical wells and buildings without registration documents.”

Addressing the city municipality, he asked the officials to ask people for permission before building houses instead of threating to curb water, electricity and destruction.
In the same time, Khateeb of Sunnis recommended the audience to register their marriages and buildings always to not face problems later.
