Shaikh Abdol-Hamid underlined on ‘Jihad’ against the inciting inner self, calling ‘fighting with the wills of the self’ the only path towards the Almighty Allah in his latest Friday sermon of Nov. 22, 2013.

Khateeb of Sunnis in the southeastern city of Zahedan began his speech by reading the noble Qur’anic verse: «وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ» [عنکبوت: 69], (And those who strive hard in us, We shall surely guide them in Our paths; verily Allah is with the welldoers.) He said, “The Almighty has mentioned the important issue of Jihad and struggle on His path in that verse; Jihad means to struggle in order to reach to the Lord, the Sublime.”

The eminent Sunni preacher and scholar further said that there were two kinds of Jihad; the first type is Jihad with arrogant, aggressors and invading enemies. The second sort is Jihad with the restive ego and Satan. It is very important in the Islamic Shari’ah to fight with the inner self that incites towards evil. It is a continuous struggle until the last breath; all humankind should struggle to overcome their inner self, that is why it has been called ‘the biggest Jihad’ in some sayings narrated from the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
“The prophet says the [real] Mujahid is the one who fights with his inner self on the path of imitating Allah. This great Hadith suggests that whoever resists the inner self and Satan is a ‘Mujahid’. The term Mujahid includes both the freedom fighters against the aggressive elements and the fighters with the self and Satan. In fact, both of them fight with their ego and inciting self,” he pointed.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan went on to say more, “When a person makes Jihad against his/her inner self, s/he must be away of the wrong acts and sins, in the result. Real Muslims should fight with the self that incites them to bribery, usury, corruption, ogling, backbiting, telling lies, neglecting prayers and the rest of the anti-Shari’ah acts. Some scholars compared the inner self to an infant kid that has been habitual to sucking his mother; it is very hard to stop such infants but ‘possible’! The human inner self is habitual with misdeeds; stopping this self is not impossible, it just needs bearing some difficulties.”

Khateeb of Sunnis pointed out to the Jihad against inner self saying the spiritual life of a Muslim depends on this resistance; without fighting with the inner self no one can reach to Allah. Thus the Almighty says those who struggle on Our path, We guide them to the ways lead to Allah the Sublime. A sinful heart cannot place the love of Allah. If we want to reach to Allah, we must get rid of the self’s subornation and accursed Satan.

“The Lord of the entire universe urges that His remembrance and faith on Him make everyone calm and give comfort. The lives of the Companions of the prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, prove it; they had no enough welfare sources but due to their strong faith and remembrance of the Sublime they were calm and peaceful mentally. But some people seek peace of mind and calm by imitating of their inner selves and egos. Such people are like the victims of ascites and polydipsia; no water can quench the thirst of such ills. In the same way, the inner self of mankind never can be saturated of sins and misdeeds; rather it leads the person to full demolition,” he underlined.

Explaining the second part of the Hadith, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said the real immigrant is the one who leaves wrong acts behind as the actual Jihad is with the inner self. According to this great Hadith, whoever fights with his inner self is a ‘Mujahid’ and whoever leaves sins is an ‘immigrant’ on the way of Allah.

By Appointment of the New Governor Negative Views Must Be Changed
Shaikh Isma’eelzahi alluded to the reports of the appointment of the new government in Sistan-Baluchistan, calling it a good point by the new government in the second part of his speech before Sunni Muslims in Zahedan, Iran.

Khateeb of Sunni Muslims said, “Although we have no enough information about the new governor of the province, but we are sure the ‘government of hope and discretion’ has worked hard to select any capable person who would implement the promises of the new government in different stages.”

The chairman of the Coordination Council for Sunni Seminaries expressed his good wishes for the upcoming provincial administration, saying, “We hope the new governor would resolve the past problems changing some negative views and sights. People have cast votes in favor of the views of the new government; they have been awaiting some positive changes.”

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid stated by the new administration unity, solidarity, peace and security should be enhanced. The people of this province have suffered from many pains and discriminations; they should get a chance to take part in the development of their motherland.

Attacks on Embassies against International Treaties
Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, southeastern Iran, condemned the attack on the Iranian embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in the last week, which left dozens dead and injured.
In a part of his speech, he said, “The attack on the Iranian embassy is condemnable; we consider such assaults against the international treaties and the customs of the nations. According to the international and Islamic laws, ambassadors and diplomats should have security in other countries. We hope to not see such incidents in the future.”
