Shaikh Abdol-Hamid Isma’eelzahi talked about the importance of veracity and just talks in his recent Friday sermon declaring veracity on the route of faith and piety.

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan began his sermon of Sep. 27, 2013 by reciting two noble Qur’anic verse: «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا*يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَالَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَمَن يُطِعْ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا» [احزاب: 70-71], (O you who believe, fear Allah, and speak in straightforward words. If you do so,) Allah will correct your deeds for your benefit, and forgive your sins for you. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger achieves a great success.)

He said, “It is vital and very considerable in Islam to purify the deeds. Every Believer’s doings must be on an appropriate route; then the Sublime would accept good deeds. The chosen religion of Allah is on the straight path; as He says: «قُلْ إِنَّنِي هَدَانِي رَبِّي إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ دِينًا قِيَمًا مِّلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ» [انعام: 161], (Say, “As for me, my Lord has guided me to a straight path, the straight religion, the faith of Ibrahim who was upright and was not of those who associate partners with Allah.). The biggest thing Muslims ask for it in the prayers is ‘guidance’ (Hidayah) to the straightway; it was the way of the prophets, the truthful and saint servants of Allah who have been rewarded by Him.”

Explaining the ‘Straight Path’, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid stated the words of any servant must be true; if the words of anyone are not on the correct way, justice, temperance and piety, then deeds will be affected negatively. Allah the Almighty underlines the words of Muslims should be just even in the case of confronting the enemy. Muslims should not be unjust to others. Allah says: «وَلَا يَجۡرِمَنَّڪُمۡ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوۡمٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعۡدِلُواْ‌ۚ ٱعۡدِلُواْ هُوَ أَقۡرَبُ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ‌ۖ», (Malice against a person should not prompt you to avoid doing justice. Do justice. That is nearer to Taqwa.) Muslims must not blame their enemies for what they have not committed.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan, the largest Islamic Sunni seminary in Iran, further said, “Everybody is responsible for what s/he says; «مَا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ», (Not a single word is uttered by one but there is a watcher near him, ready (to record).), [50: 18]. All words and sentences of mankind have been being recorded by angels. Not only we are responsible of our words regarding our friends but also we would be questioned for we say about the enemies. We should not make any utterance unjustly in favor of our friends or kin while they are wrong. You cannot be called the most perfect by being just with friends; integrity is in justice with enemies. Our words and actions must not contradict. Imam Bukhari quoted Ammar, may Allah be pleased with him, saying: “Justice is one of the features that makes man’s faith perfect.”

Proving the importance of ‘just talk’, the Sunni Friday Imam of Zahedan said that impartial word rectifies deeds of mankind. Besides, Allah forgives sins of people when they speak truly. The truth is on the line of faith and piety.

He called on the audience in another part of his speech to carry out their deeds and utter only for the sake of Allah. Make relations and break them just to get His pleasure. All moves and matters in routine life must be followed by the pleasure of Allah.

In another part of his sermon, the outstanding Sunni scholar pointed out to the recent earthquake in Balochistan province of Pakistan expressing his deep concerns over huge demolition and casualties. He appealed the audience to collect their aid for the victims.

The President’s stances; a chance for the West
In the last part of his speech before hundreds of worshippers in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid alluded to the trip of the Iranian president to New York and his speech in the General Assembly of the United Nations. He said, “The words of the president in the UN were moderate and valuable as the name of Iran was lightened once again.”

“When somebody talks under the international framework logically without any fear from super powers, his words should be called strong and just.”

The member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars underlined, “The new Iranian president is a temperate man; the West and the rest of the world should get advantage of the new circumstances and resolve their disputes. We are optimistic; in future we will listen and observe some good news.”

He said apart from Israelis who want to eliminate the opportunities and create anxieties, the rest of the world chiefs have applauded the stances and statements of the Iranian delegation. Mr. Rouhani has stripped Israel of wolf cry; that is why this nefarious regime is angry.
