Khateeb of Sunni Muslims in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, has asked the pertinent authorities to take action against particular individuals and media sources who humiliate ethnic and religious sects.

Talking to hundreds of worshippers in the southeastern city of Zahedan, he alluded to the recent presidential election in Iran, saying, “This election had an important message; people want change and they are cheesed off with the pressure, partiality and accusations. The overall atmosphere of the country was not adequate before; admonitions of the Supreme Leader did not work about baseless blames and accusations. Even some foreigners stated ‘they’ do not take the words of their leader seriously.”

The prominent Islamic scholar went on to say more that the Iranian nation cast the vote for a man who promised to bring ground changes, the man who clearly said to remove discriminations and partialities giving all their due rights.

“Some particular sides have not got the message of the nation; we see some websites and satellite media sources neglecting the message of people. These fanatic elements have begun humiliating their opponents and disdaining ethnic and religious sects and individuals.”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added more, “It is illegal and irrational to target people and races. Accusing others is not the job of good and religious people. May Allah reward guidance to such elements if it has been written, otherwise protect us from their archness.”

The most influential Sunni scholar in Iran underlined, “The judiciary and security authorities have responsibilities to take action against illegal activities like baseless claims and blames on the national sects and ethnic communities. We know well who dictate those fanatic sides.”

It is not suitable for anyone to accuse whenever he wishes any community that keeps silent gentlemanly to save unity. All should receive the message of the nation adjusting themselves with the new circumstances. The nation wants solidarity and unity among the all national sects and communities. If somebody creates disputes, according to the verdict of the leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, neither he is Shia nor Sunni. Such people who appear more loyal than the king regarding the supreme leader and regime are not friends of the regime.

The member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars called on the Sunnis who live inside or outside of the country to protect unity and peace in any condition. The new government must be given chance to implement the constitution completely ending illegal pressures.

“All organizations and entities must act as the law affirms. We obey others according to law refusing illegal orders,” he concluded.
