Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, put the crisis in Syria a “human tragedy” in the second part of his Friday speech saying that the entire world has been observing the human calamity in Syria that takes lives of dozens each day. Women, children, old-agers and youth lose their lives and people watch the woeful scenes.

Talking to tens of thousands in the Grand Makki mosque in Zahedan, Iran, he added more, ‘A sane person can not withstand seeing innocent Syrians dying deplorably. First of all, we must pray to Allah Almighty to make a way rescuing the Syrians and halt the ongoing tragedy and fratricide. None of regimes has the right to assault common citizens utilizing tanks, missiles and other heavy guns to control protests.’

The leading Sunni scholar pointed out towards the disputable support of Russia and China from the Bashar al-Assad’s regime in the Security Council stating that those countries must take serious steps to stop Syrian genocide; otherwise these two powers will get the anger of all people creating a bad future for them across the world.

‘Day after day, Syrian men, women and children are being massacred by their own army. In cities like Homs, food and medical supplies are running out. Torture is widespread. All take place before our eyes,’ he stated

Shaikh Abdul Hameed continued his points saying that “peaceful demonstration and continuing protest” are the only solution. ‘In my view, the best way is that the Assad-led brute Army and armed opponents, Free Syrian Army, give up their guns. People should take to streets to protest and demand their rights by peaceful gatherings. This is the legal and internationally accepted method to demand due rights. The Syrian government must permit dissenters to launch peaceful demonstrations conveying their demands and messages. But armed disputes and clashes will be ruinous for Syria and it would damage the prestige of this country in the globe,’ he underlined.

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah further said, ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran has a great responsibility over the security situation of Syria; all should strive to end humiliation of towns, houses, shops and bloodshed of people. Because, massacring common citizens in this shameful way is not legal for any regime, neither in Islam nor according human rights any justification can be found for it.’

The Islamic revolution needs people for maintenance
The outstanding leader of the Sunni community in Iran indicated to the anniversary of victory of Islamic Revolution in another part of his speech urging that the Iranian nation from all aspects of life had revolted against despotism and rule of one family in the country. The nation including academians, traders, shopkeepers, formers, students and teachers of seminaries, etc brought a revolution in the country and ousted the dictators to have liberties, honorable and peaceful life in Iran.

He pointed saying the revolution of masses in 1979 did not succeed by holding guns; people did not take guns to oust the Shah regime, neither the leaders of revolutionaries allowed them to do so. Because they did not want to give the regime pretexts to oppress people more by military suppression. ‘So, as the revolution succeeded only by the unity of the nation, not by armed movement, it can maintain its life by unification and solidarity. No one can save the revolution by military forces and guns. The use of force can not give endurance to the revolution,’ Mawlana Abdul Hameed emphasized.

Shaikh Ismaeelzahi went on to say, ‘The public revolution of 1979 does not appertain to any particular sect, wing or party. Rather it belongs to all sects, tribes, wings and religions. No one can confine the revolution in this regime. Because all these sides struggled for the success of the revolution enduring crackdowns of tyrants and an 8-year long war. The sacrifices of people, with different backgrounds, should not be ignored; the regime and revolution can not be occupied by any particular side.’

Khateeb of Sunnis added more saying that in the current circumstances the international community, nearly, wants to impose sanctions on the nation unanimously; the elders of the country who have influence should be more discreet and vigilant; they must pay attention to the Iranian nation, people have objects and complaints. By giving ground to masses, the rulers can go ahead and spurn the crises.

Take more steps to ‘factual unity’:
Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi pointed out towards the importance of unity saying, ‘We believe unity is a vital need, but it can not be achieved by holding conferences and meetings for the “Week of Unity,” chanting slogans can not reach us to the real unity. We are not against such meetings and conferences, but in the ongoing situations such small and symbolic steps are not enough for bringing unification. Rather serious and durable steps must be taken in this field for factual unity.’

It is noteworthy that the Iranian governments hold the “Week of Unity” or closeness of Muslims, in Iran from Rabi-ul-Awwal 12 to 17 each year by holding seminars and conferences.
