Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, began his latest Friday sermon by recitation of the 153-157 verses of Sourah al-Baqarah saying that uprising of Hussien bin Ali, may Allah be pleased with them, was justice-seeking and anti-tyranny.

Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed pointed that recent Muslim uprisings are inspired by the historical movement of the grandson of Holy prophet Muhammad, peace & blessings be upon him.

Preambling the sermon, he added more, ‘Allah Almighty examines His slaves according to their status and faith, regardless to their age and background. Allah Exalted tests someone by his/her health or wealth and another one by poverty and illness.’

Shaikh parabled the point saying that prophet Abraham was examined by the fire of Nimrod and sloughtry of his son, Ismaeel, peace be upon them. As, Moses was tested by Pharaoh who created lots of problems for him and his nation. In the same way, beloved prophet Muhammad, peace & blessings be upon him, was examined by Abu Lahab, bin Obayy and pagans of Makkah. The miscreant Kuffar of Makkah decided to martyr him, as Allah Almighty ordered him and other Muslims to migrate. Even hypocrites vilified his wife with nonsense blames, but Allah, swt, reiterated her chastity and purity.

‘The companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, also were tested in different stages; in migrates and battles, all of them were passed and successful. Thus, Muslim believers must be prepared for any kind of examination, always,’ the eminent Islamic scholar urged.

Continuing his speech, he said that Hussein bin Ali was tested by his Lord, Exalted Allah as well. He was a great Sahabi and one of the prophet’s household who was brought up by Ali, the fourth caliph and Fatima, the daughter of beloved prophet Muhammad. As, Hasan bin Ali, Allah be pleased with them, succeeded in a big exam by smothering sedition in a critical juncture; his brother Hussein got success in his duty as well.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan further said, ‘When Mu’awiya, Allah be pleased with him, passed away, his son Yazid got the power. Yazid was not any ideal caliph like his precedents; he dismissed the experienced and accredits governors replacing them by incapable men like him. Corruption and aggression affected the nation; Hussein felt the danger and revolted in that unruly atmosphere against injustice and oppression.’

Hussein belongs to all Muslims
Khateeb of Sunnis pointed that Hussein bin Ali does not belong to any particular group or sect; rather he is accepted and respectable at all Muslim sects. Sunni Muslims love him as much as they love other companions and households of the prophet, peace be upon him.

‘All Muslims consider Hussein a role model; they followed him and his philosophy in their lives. Recent uprisings in the Middle East are influenced by the Hussein’s movement against the tyranny and unjust acts of a dictator. Muslim nations raised their voice for justice and freedom; Hussein’s uprising proves that arising against the tyrant rulers who claim to be Muslims, is allowed,’ Shaikh pointed.

Pointing out to an important matter, Mawlana Abdul Hameed stated that Sunni Muslims love Hussein and all households of the Prophet, they are sad over what happened with them in Karbala. If they do not dress black cloths and do not hold anniversaries of death or martyrdom; that is because of their juridical matters. We believe that howling is not allowed and mourning is only three days; the prophet and his companions never held death anniversary of any one. We imitate them.

At the end, Khateeb of the grand Makki mosque advised the audience to recite Holy Qur’an more on ninth and tenth of Muharram, Tasu’a and Ashura. He cheered them up to observe fast on Tasu’a and Ashura.
