When we see the future of the controversial Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between the US and Afghanistan, we find it concerning, Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan said on Eid day, Oct. 5, 2014 in Zahedan, Iran.

Talking to tens of thousands worshippers in Zahedan, southeastern Iran, on Eid al-Adha day, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid expressed his views on some issues of the Muslim world and said, “The security deal of Afghanistan with the US is a big defeat for this Muslim state; it is regrettable for any Muslim country to depend on any ‘superpower’ to ensure its security. Why Muslim states do not depend on their own nations? As well as on Islam and their One Lord instead of Western powers?!”

“Muslim leaders do not need to spend much to strengthen their relations with the Western powers if they spend a lower amount to get the pleasure of their masses; it is the way to ensure peace in their countries,” he added more.

The prominent Sunni scholar addressed the Afghan leaders and said, “None of your neighbors threaten you, there is a disagreement among the Afghan nation. Afghan leaders and elders must sit together to resolve their problems by pardon, dialogue and a wide chest. Stability and strength of states and governments can be durable with dependence on people; rulers should listen to their masses and fulfil their demands.”

“Instead of signing security agreement with big powers to oppress the nation, Afghan leaders should pay attention to the demands of their people. A government along with nation can progress any country; uniformity between nations and regimes can guarantee development of countries.”

He further said, “It is shocking to give strangers security and a safe way in Muslim states by inking up such deals. It has been experienced that whenever they enter like Iraq and Afghanistan, they only created more troubles and added fuel to the fire.”

Accepting demands of ethnic & religious communities, the best way to fight with crises
Showing his reaction on formation of an international alliance against radical Muslim groups, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan said, “It makes us inconvenient to see mustering of some states under the leadership of the US to eliminate some radical Islamist organizations; the question is that are these groups such strong and powerful as the world’s powers should gather to uproot them?!”

Pointing out to some parts of the speech of Dr. Rouhani in the recent general assembly of the UN, he stated, “We support the statement of our president about the security and war on terror groups in the general assembly of the UN where he said the plan of fighting against terrorism and radical armed groups should be handed over to the states of the region. Muslim countries must work together and make working plans to resolve the crises of the Muslim world; the UN also should support them.”

Alluding to the best way of fighting against security crises, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan termed ‘paying attention to demands of the ethnic and religious communities’ the best policy to overcome crises. “I would like to call on all Muslim rulers to do not let the crises and interior disputes emerging in the society; otherwise the best way to get rid of such crises is national unity and solidarity. rulers of all Muslim states need to pay attention to the demands of different classes of the society. Getting the satisfaction of nations and dependence on people are the biggest power for any regime and government; it is the symbol of victory and a durable and correct policy,” he added more.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid concluded his points if today the region is suffering from extremism and radical armed groups can destabilize states; that is just due to neglecting the legal demands of ethnic and religious communities.

Reputation of allotment of ‘new Mosalla for Sunnis in Zahedan’ goes to the 11th Government
In the last part of his speech on Eid al-Adha day, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan pointed out to the issue of the Sunni community’s Mosalla in Zahedan city and said, “I would like to thank officials over their broad-mindness and allotment of a Mosalla for Sunnis in the city. Zahedan’s Sunnis have been suffering as their previous central Mosalla has been so short; thousands of worshippers had to offer prayers in streets and roads.”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid thanked the governor of Sistan-Baluchistan, representative of the Supreme Leader in the province and the rest of the pertinent departments. “We have been following this case for around 12 years; now the 11th government got the reputation of allocating a new Mosalla to the Sunni community of Zahedan. It has made all citizens in Zahedan happy; even many of Muslims in other provinces and countries expressed their happiness over the allotment of a sufficient Mosalla to Sunnis in Zahedan,” Mawlana pointed.

He said such decisions bring Sunnis and Shias in the country closer as people’s satisfaction has been gained. Officials can guarantee the peace by such good works.
