In the inaugural ceremony of the specialized branch of Darululoom Zahedan held on few days ago, Sheikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid stressed on the “necessity of specialization and requiring proficiency in religious sciences and modern knowledge”.

According to a report of “SunniOnline”, the official website of the Sunni community in Iran, Sheikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged on learning Islamic sciences, obtaining versatility and declared getting specialization in various sciences and technology among the basic needs of the society.

In the beginning, he welcomed the audience; teachers, students, some members of the Islamic city council in Zahedan and other guests especially Mawlana Mohammad Hussein Gorgij, Friday imam of Sunnis in Azad-Shahr, Golestan.

The teacher of hadith in Darululoom further said, “The religious seminaries and scientific centers should pay attention to the needs of the society. The community needs orators, teachers, liturgists, guides, reformers, preachers and mentors. Reaching to these requirements is one of the most important missions of Islamic seminaries.”
“History witnesses whenever the theist and sincere scholars put their feet in any region, they became resources of growth and blessing,” he pointed.

There was a time when Sistan-Baluchistan was an underdeveloped and deprived province in all aspects; it was suffering from abundant material and spiritual deprivations. People had to travel to other regions including Afghanistan to resolve their minor religious matters.

Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan alluded to valuable and historic services of previous and current scholars such as Imam Ghazali, Imam Dihlawi, Mawlana Abdullah Mollazadeh and Mawlana Abdol-Aziz Mollazadeh and expressed. He said all of them were graduated from scientific centers and religious seminaries.

Training specialized scholars, mission of Islamic seminaries
Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan went on saying, “Scientific centers and Islamic seminaries should utilize prominent and expert scholars in the field of teaching. All universities activate in this ground and train expert. The religious seminaries should train and educate interpreters of the Noble Qur’an, jurists, Muftis, experts in Hadith, literary, and history to community. Even our public courses should be combined with research and scrutiny; the talented and genius students should be instructed well in order to grow superior and expert. The teacher must teach and speak in the class after research, impose the different opinions until the students may progress and develop.

Big titles but little content!
Sheikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hameed alluded to the prevalence of giving title in Shia and Sunni circles, saying, “In our time people attribute great titles to each other but they do not pay any attention to contents and meanings of the titles. Unfortunately, the titles are great and rich but the contents are trivial and poor! There is a distinction between a Mohaddith and a teacher of Hadith. The same difference is between an “exegete”, “jurist”, “belletrist” and a teacher of Tafseer, jurisprudence and literature.

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan underlined, “Mufti is the one who has his own taste and viewpoint. In the same way, “Mohaddith” and “Mofassir” are those have their own viewpoints in Hadith and Tafseer, not those who just relate and cite viewpoints and speeches of other lofty scholars.

Addressing the caretakers of the specialization and higher education branch of Darululoom Zahedan, he stated, “The elite teachers in the specialization branch must be talented and well-educated; they should have time for studying and perusal. The lesser experienced teachers who have enthusiasm and more time should be preferred on experienced and skilled teachers but without enough time or interest.”

Studious students ahead of their teachers
Sheikh-ul-Islam addressed the students of specialized branch of Darululoom Zahedan in another part of his speech and said, “Students should work hard and prepare themselves for service. Sometimes a diligent and studious student can leave his teacher and mentor behind in knowledge and specialization. In modern society your speech must be rational and reasonable; the time has changed as people do not accept any word without proof.”

At the end of his speech in the inaugural meeting of the specialization courses of Darululoom Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid thanked the teachers and managers of the branch. He expressed his hope for the prosperity of the students.

It is noteworthy, Darululoom Zahedan, the biggest Islamic seminary of Sunnis in Iran, launches specialization courses in Fiqh (jurisprudence), Tafseer, Hadith, Da’wah (preaching Islam and Islamic thoughts), Arabic literature, Tajweed and journalism.
