Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, rector of Darululoom Zahedan, the largest Sunni seminary in Iran, shed light on the importance of purity in good deeds in the inaugural gathering on the verge of the new academic year (1434-35 H.Q) inside Darululoom Zahedan, Iran.

Explicating the first Hadith of the great Hadith book, Sahih al-Bukhari, he declared ‘purity in deeds’ like soul in the body today morning, Sep. 02, 2013, in the presence of the teachers and students of Darululoom Zahedan.

He said, “Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned the Hadith of ‘intention’ at the beginning to show the great importance of purity in deeds. Good deeds cannot be accepted unless the intention is correct; Allah accepts only the deeds which are for the sake of Him purely.”

The teacher of Sahih al-Bukhari in Darululoom Zahedan further said some scholars stated ‘purity’ or Ikhlas is one-third of the religion. Deeds are like body and the soul of this body is purity. Do not forget, when we talk about acceptance of deeds, it means good deeds. If somebody carries out any sin claiming that his intention is good, it cannot be accepted; even some scholars say it is ‘kufr’!

“Apart from carrying out the deeds purely for Allah Almighty, we must spend our lives according to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah; otherwise any, apparently, good deed that is contrary to the noble Qur’an and Sunnah is refused. Great deeds such as migration, Jihad and seeking knowledge are refused if they are for any purpose but the pleasure of Allah.”

The chairman of the Coordination Council for Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan addressed teachers and students of Islamic schools, saying, “Ulama and students should be examples for the society in moral and purity of the intention. A student of university is much better than a student of the seminaries who gets knowledge for any worldly goal. So always take care of your intentions; before, during and after the good deed you carry it out.”
