Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdolhamid, in his Friday sermon delivered on February 27th, 2026, in Zahedan, addressed the recent protests in several universities across the country. He underscored the necessity of safeguarding the dignity of students and attentively listening to the views and demands of students and members of the academic community.
According to the official website of the Office of the Friday Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdolhamid stated that universities, in every society, constitute vital and influential institutions which have historically played a leading role in social movements, protests, and other significant developments across the world.
He further observed that the people of Iran remain deeply affected by the events of Dey (January). During that period, universities were closed; now that they have reopened, students are expressing their sentiments. He emphasized that responsible authorities must preserve the dignity of students, engage with them directly, listen to their perspectives, and give due consideration to their legitimate demands.
He added that officials should refrain from imposing additional hardships upon students, thereby avoiding the infliction of new grievances. Rather, they should seek to alleviate existing concerns. In his view, attentively listening to students and acknowledging their voices constitutes the most appropriate course of action.

The Implementation Of Justice As The Guarantor Of Security And Public Satisfaction
In the continuation of his remarks, Mawlana Abdolhamid highlighted the principle of justice, describing its implementation as the fundamental guarantor of security and the satisfaction of nations. He stated that the formula capable of ensuring security, tranquility, and public contentment for all nations lies in the realization of justice and fairness, and expressed regret that many governments fail to recognize and internalize this principle.
He further clarified that the provision of essential freedoms and the elimination of discrimination among ethnic groups, religious communities, and between women and men are integral components of justice. Any ruler or government that upholds justice and fairness, he noted, will secure stability, public confidence, and social harmony. Conversely, no government, regardless of its power, can sustainably establish security without adherence to justice and equity.
He emphasized that in the absence of justice, even nuclear capability cannot guarantee security and societal well-being. A narrow-minded ruler, he warned, transforms the world into a place of hardship both for himself and for others. Recognizing all segments of society and listening to their concerns, he concluded, are essential foundations for lasting security and peace.

Armed Conflict Between Pakistan And Afghanistan Serves Neither Nation
In another portion of his sermon, Mawlana Abdolhamid referred to the recent military tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He noted that the two countries are neighboring Muslim nations with deep historical ties. Their peoples share extensive commonalities in terms of kinship, culture, and faith.
He stated that both countries possess shared interests, and that armed conflict between them is detrimental to both sides. He therefore advised the authorities of Pakistan and Afghanistan to respect each other’s territorial integrity and borders, to refrain from yielding to external provocations, and to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiation.

Religious Scholars Should Take The Initiative In De-Escalation
Finally, the Friday Imam of Zahedan called upon the religious scholars and community leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan to assume a proactive role in de-escalating tensions between the two brotherly nations and to prevent the continuation and escalation of the conflict.
