Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, Iran, alluded to the 37th anniversary of the Iranian revolution in his sermon of Feb. 05, 2016 terming the uprising of the Iranian nation ‘a historical event’.

Talking to Sunni worshipers in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “Allah the Almighty brings change in the destiny of a nation that wants change and development. The Iranians when wanted to get spiritual development and independence from foreigners, the Almighty changed their condition.”

“The Iranian nation revolted against cruelty and an autocratic regime where people had no role under the leadership of the founder of the new regime. In the Shah regime, whatever Shah wanted to implement, people were supposed to accept. The authorities used to change the rules and regulations in any way they wished,” he added more.

The prominent Iranian Sunni scholar said, “The Iranian nation brought a great change on Feb. 11, 1979 by the grace of Allah. It was not only awakening for them, but it also awoke others in the world, too. The Iranian nation proved, by depending on the Almighty people can stop their dependence on others. The Iranians get independence to rule on their destiny. It was the biggest blessing to the Iranian nation.”

“In the recent years, some nations revolted against tyranny and people have been awakened. Unfortunately, the enemies have put revolutions of people at stake and challenges. We hope those uprisings would continue their way to independence and freedom.” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said.

Iranian Sunnis demand their rights in the frame of law
The Iranian Sunni leader shed light on the role of Sunnis in the 1979 revolution and underlined, “The Iranian Sunnis consider Iran their home. They are loyal to the Islamic republic and they would defend their motherland if there would be any danger to the country.”

“The Iranian Sunni community moves on under the frame of law and constitution. Even they advise others to respect the law and follow up their rights by legal channels. The Iranian Sunni community wants an equal eye to all parts of the nation; they must be equipped with their rights, capable members of ethnic and religious communities should be employed in local, provincial and national positions,” the rector of Darululoom Zahedan said.

Calling on the Iranian president, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reminded Dr. Rouhani about his promises and said, “We ask the president to bring his promises into action which he made during presidential election. Although the government has taken some steps, but we expect more.”

“Islamic revolution belongs to all Iranians. The full execution of law and legal liberties in society makes the nation closer to each other boosting solidarity,” he concluded his points.

Avoid insulting public figures
In a part of his sermon, Shaikh Isma’eelzahi called on different parties and political wings to protect each other’s respect. He said, “If the political figures are supposed to criticize anyone, they should preserve the respect of others. We all should respect each other.”

He added more, “Respecting Ulama and intellectuals is Islamic ethic. Some members of the ex-supreme leader have been humiliated while they suffered a lot for the sake of people’s relief; their respect should be protected.”

Attacking on mosques, killing innocents denounced
In the last part of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid strongly denounced attacks on mosques and religious places and said, “Sobriety is the way of Islam and beloved prophet, peace be upon him. The Iranian Sunni community rejects going to extremes and decries extremis of any group, sect and community including Shia and Sunni ones.”

“We denounce those who attack on the mosques of Shia and Sunni communities in Iraq and other countries or they set them on fire killing imams and innocent people or members of their rivals such as Shias, Sunnis, Christians or other religions. As well as, attacking on religious objects, graves of the saints or other public places is condemned in our viewpoints,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said.
