{"id":3577,"date":"2025-07-05T15:59:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T11:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abdolhamid.net\/english\/?p=3577"},"modified":"2025-11-01T16:04:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T11:34:34","slug":"yazid-ignored-the-words-of-reformers-and-well-wishers-and-met-a-bitter-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abdolhamid.net\/english\/2025\/07\/3577\/","title":{"rendered":"Yazid ignored the words of reformers and well-wishers and met a bitter end"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdolhamid, in his Friday sermon today, July 4th, 2025 in Zahedan, referred to the uprising of Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) in the month of Muharram, emphasizing that \u201cestablishing justice\u201d and \u201crestoring rights\u201d were the core purposes of his movement. He stated that Yazid\u2019s disregard for the counsel of reformers and well-wishers led to his failure and bitter fate.<br>The Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan also touched upon various other issues including:<br>\u2022 War and insecurity in the Middle East and the need for dialogue and respect for nations\u2019 rights,<br>\u2022 The internal situation of the country and the importance of heeding the people\u2019s voice and freeing political prisoners,<br>\u2022 The plan to deport Afghan nationals from Iran,<br>\u2022 and the recent incident in the village of Gonich in Khash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Imam Hasan\u2019s peace with Muawiyah ended a major rift in the Muslim Ummah<br><\/strong>According to the official website of the Sunni Friday prayer office in Zahedan, Shaikh-ul-Islam stated:<br>Imam Hussain\u2019s uprising was rooted in justice, in standing against oppression and tyranny, and in protecting the Islamic achievements.<br>After the martyrdom of Imam Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Imam Hasan (his successor) invited all parties to dialogue.<br>As a result of negotiations and reconciliation, the leadership of the Islamic world was transferred to Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Imam Hasan said he did not wish for discord among Muslims.<br>The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once delivered a sermon while Imam Hasan sat beside him. The Prophet looked at Hasan, then at the people, and said:<br>\u201cThis son of mine is a Sayyid (noble leader), and I hope Allah will reconcile through him a great division among the Ummah.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The Ahl al-Bayt did not rise up during the caliphates of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Muawiyah \u2013 but did in Yazid\u2019s time, when justice was endangered<br><\/strong>Mawlana continued:<br>The family of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt) did not rise up during the caliphates of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, or Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with them), but during Yazid\u2019s rule\u2014when justice was threatened and rights were violated\u2014Imam Hussain, the people of Madinah and Makkah, and leading Companions such as Abdullah ibn Zubayr refused to pledge allegiance to him and chose to rise up.<br>He added:<br>Yazid was an incompetent and weak ruler, unfit to lead the Islamic world.<br>The \u201cHarrah incident\u201d was one of the darkest episodes in history, showcasing Yazid\u2019s oppression. His army committed atrocities in Madinah and killed many prominent figures.<br>He stressed that Imam Hussain rose up because the realm of Islam was in the hands of incapable administrators who could not uphold justice.<br>His uprising was not for power or dominion, but to establish justice and restore rights.<br>Imam Hussain wanted a worthy individual to lead the Muslim Ummah and spread justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Yazid was a tyrannical, autocratic ruler who shed the blood of Imam Hussain to preserve his power<br><\/strong>Mawlana Abdolhamid described the tragedy of Karbala as \u201cone of the most sorrowful events in history\u201d and said:<br>The Karbala tragedy occurred under Yazid\u2019s rule, who was an autocratic and oppressive ruler.<br>He refused to sit with reformers or listen to their advice. Instead, to secure his throne, he was willing to shed the blood of Imam Hussain.<br>He continued:<br>Yazid and his followers committed such heinous crimes that Muslims will never forgive them until the Day of Judgment.<br>Those responsible for this atrocity were afflicted with disgrace and torment even in this world.<br>Yazid\u2019s rule did not last long, and he died young.<br>This is a great lesson: those who commit oppression will ultimately face a bitter fate and a dark legacy in history.<br>The Friday preacher of Zahedan concluded:<br>If Yazid had placed himself under the counsel of great Companions such as Imam Hussain, Abdullah ibn Zubayr, and Abdullah ibn Umar, and consulted with them, he would not have ended up with such a disgraceful fate.<br>But Yazid rejected consultation, and distanced himself from the Companions, the Prophet\u2019s disciples, and righteous reformers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him), through his uprising, taught humanity the lesson of dignity and freedom.<br>He did not accept humiliation; rather, he chose martyrdom and death over captivity and disgrace.<br>Shia religious ceremonies during Muharram must be held with freedom and security<\/strong><br>Mawlana Abdolhamid, referring to the mourning ceremonies held by Shia brothers during the month of Muharram, stated:<br>\u201cOur Shia brothers in Iran and other parts of the world are holding religious ceremonies during these days. My recommendation is, first and foremost, that they should be able to perform their rituals freely and without any difficulty. Secondly, security for these ceremonies must be ensured both in Iran and in other Islamic and non-Islamic countries.\u201d<br>He emphasized:<br>\u201cHere in the province as well, I stress that no one should make the mistake of trying to create insecurity. Followers of every sect, ethnicity, and faith\u2014whether Islamic or non-Islamic\u2014must be free to observe their religious practices according to their beliefs. No one should infringe upon the religious freedom of others. International law and global norms also affirm that people are free in matters of faith.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The Middle East is burning in the fire of war and insecurity \u2014 the key to peace is \u2018dialogue\u2019 and \u2018respect for nations\u2019 rights\u2019<br><\/strong>In another part of his sermon, Mawlana Abdolhamid referred to the dire situation in the Middle East, saying:<br>\u201cFor some time now, the Middle East has been burning in the flames of war and insecurity, especially Palestine and Gaza, which are going through some of the darkest days in their history, with many people martyred or injured daily.\u201d<br>He added:<br>\u201cThe nations of the Middle East and the region need peace, tranquility, and security. Establishing peace and security in the region requires that regional and global powers\u2014and all those involved\u2014approach these issues with dialogue, foresight, open-mindedness, and respect for the rights of nations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>All parties must pursue \u2018fair and just dialogue\u2019<br>No one should impose on the Iranian nation \u2014 the rights of all peoples must be upheld<\/strong><br>The Friday Imam of Zahedan emphasized the need to resolve the issue of Palestine and Gaza, stating:<br>\u201cResolving the issue of Palestine and Gaza is extremely important. The people of Gaza and Palestine must attain their rights through a fair and just peace. This long-standing conflict between Palestine and Israel, which lies at the root of all other regional conflicts, must be resolved justly.\u201d<br>He pointed to the consequences of war for all sides:<br>\u201cThe twelve-day war clearly showed the damage inflicted on all parties. Even governments that believed they would not suffer were ultimately harmed.\u201d<br>Mawlana Abdolhamid continued:<br>\u201cAll sides must turn to fair and just dialogue so that the Middle East may witness a new reality. Everyone\u2019s rights must be respected. No one should impose their will on others. No one should impose on our nation, and neither should any force impose on the people of Palestine, Gaza, or any other nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The country now needs a \u2018new framework\u2019<br>Despite grievances, the Iranian people showed great foresight<\/strong><br>Turning to domestic issues, Mawlana Abdolhamid said:<br>\u201cJust as the Middle East needs a new approach and policy, our country also, in its current state, needs a new framework.\u201d<br>He stated:<br>\u201cDuring the twelve-day war, the people of Iran showed remarkable foresight. Many assumed that if the country were attacked, the people would side with the opposition. But the Iranian people proved that they not only reject foreign aggression, but they condemned it outright.\u201d<br>He added:<br>\u201cDespite internal disagreements and grievances, the Iranian people set those aside and did not accept foreign invasion. Even political prisoners, from within prison, condemned this aggression and stated that Iran\u2019s internal issues are for Iranians themselves to resolve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>A general amnesty should be issued, especially for political prisoners, and executions must be halted<br><\/strong>Mawlana Abdolhamid called for a general amnesty, particularly for political prisoners, saying:<br>\u201cI propose that in these circumstances, a general amnesty be issued for all prisoners, especially political ones, and that they be released. Imprisoned men, women, and scholars must be freed, and their views should be heard. We sincerely recommend that execution sentences be halted, and that no one be executed in this climate.\u201d<br>He concluded:<br>\u201cOther problems in the country, too, must now be addressed with a new perspective and mechanism, taking into account the realities created by this war.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The people of Sistan-Baluchistan love their homeland and do not allow aggression<br><\/strong>Mawlana Abdolhamid stated:<br>\u201cMany believed that if a war were to break out, problems would emerge from Sistan-Baluchistan. But what everyone witnessed was quite the opposite. Not only did no problems arise, but even those who used to engage in theft or kidnapping due to hunger or other reasons gave up such actions. This shows that the people of Sistan-Baluchistan love their homeland and will not allow any trespassing upon it.\u201d<br>He emphasized:<br>\u201cAll officials and policymakers must come to know the Iranian nation better. It is extremely vital that perceptions about the Iranian people change and that serious steps be taken with their welfare and benefit in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The expulsion of Afghan nationals must be carried out with dignity and respect<br><\/strong>Referring to the ongoing deportation of Afghan nationals, Mawlana said:<br>\u201cOur Afghan brothers and sisters have lived in Iran for many years. We share many things with them\u2014besides human and Islamic brotherhood, we have familial and ancestral ties. We are not separate from one another.\u201d<br>He added:<br>\u201cWhether these dear ones return voluntarily or are deported, their dignity must be preserved. Some of them have lived in Iran for decades, were born here, run businesses, own property, and have financial obligations. They must be given enough time to sell their properties, pay off any debts, or collect money owed to them before leaving the country respectfully.\u201d<br>He continued:<br>\u201cMy advice to the provincial administration is to treat our Afghan brothers as family, and not act harshly. I also recommend to the national authorities to treat Afghan nationals with kindness and compassion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>I do not defend wrongdoers, but they must be treated fairly \/ Not all Afghans are guilty \u2014 dignity and foresight are befitting for Iran<br><\/strong>He clarified:<br>\u201cOf course, I do not claim that no mistakes have been made by Afghan migrants. In this situation, some mistakes may have been committed by Iranians and some Afghan individuals may have been misled or committed offenses. I do not defend any wrongdoers. My recommendation is that offenders should be dealt with fairly. But not all Afghans in Iran are guilty, and they must be deported with dignity.\u201d<br>\u201cWhen they return to their country, the way they were treated will be discussed publicly. It is only fitting that the Iranian government and nation return these migrants with respect and foresight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Iranian citizens should not exploit the vulnerable situation of Afghans<br><\/strong>Mawlana also addressed the public:<br>\u201cI advise vehicle owners not to exploit the situation by overcharging Afghan passengers; instead, they should even offer them discounts.\u201d<br>He added:<br>\u201cMy advice to residents of Zahedan and elsewhere is to buy property from Afghan nationals at fair prices, and to return any security deposits for homes or shops they may have rented. These individuals need that money as they return to their country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>The Gonich incident in Khash must be investigated impartially and perpetrators punished legally<br><\/strong>Referring to the recent incident in the village of Gonich in Khash County, Mawlana said:<br>\u201cI have asked the Provincial Security Council to investigate the matter impartially, and for all those involved in wrongdoing to face legal consequences. The provincial authorities have promised to handle the matter fairly, and to punish the wrongdoer, whoever it may be.\u201d<br>He stressed:<br>\u201cEveryone, including officials, forces, and agencies, must understand that the country is in a sensitive condition. These matters must be addressed with foresight and not emotionally, as conflict and division will benefit no one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>We strongly condemn the burning of trucks in Tang-e Sarheh \u2014 such actions harm the people of the province<br><\/strong>In conclusion, Mawlana Abdolhamid referred to a recent incident in Tang-e Sarheh in Lashar County:<br>\u201cA few days ago, two trucks carrying flour and wheat from Chabahar to Zahedan were set ablaze by some individuals. This was a grave mistake, and we strongly condemn such actions.\u201d<br>He pointed out:<br>\u201cThese acts harm the people of the province. If transportation is disrupted or outsiders are harmed, the resulting problems will fall back directly on the people here. Therefore, I call on the people of the province to stop those responsible.
