The most influential Iranian Sunni leader alluded to the great potentials of Islam about peaceful co-existence in the first international conference held by Tehran University titled \u201cStrategic Potentials of Islamic Teachings in Materialization of Peaceful Co-existence\u201d on Wednesday 27th June, 2019.<\/p>\n
The official website of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reported his speech in the conference where he said: \u201cIslam as the last divine religion guides mankind until the last day of this world. It is the religion of mercy, rationality, interaction and peaceful co-existence.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIslam enjoys a great potential and tolerates all thoughts and viewpoints as the Qur\u2019an and Sunnah suggest. Islam has not forced anyone to accept it. We cannot force anyone to accept Islam. There is no force in Islam; Allah Almighty has dispatched prophets with divine texts to explain the truth for people. Even the rationale behind Jihad is not forcing people to accept Islam,\u201d he underlined.<\/p>\n
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: \u201cAllah Almighty says in the Qur\u2019an: \u201cAllah only forbids you to be friends with those who have fought against you on account of religion and who have driven you out of your homes and have abetted in your expulsion. And any who make friends with them; they are the wrong-doers. [60:9]\u201d This verse does not forbid Muslims from \u201ctolerance\u201d, but from \u201cfriendship\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have common interests with the followers of all divine and non-divine religions. Therefore, Islam encourages peaceful co-existence and good contiguity with others,\u201d he added more.<\/p>\n
President of Darululoom Zahedan emphasized: \u201cIslam is not the religion of emotions, anger and extremism. Injustice, discrimination and extremism have no place in Islam. Islam is the religion of interaction, mercy, meditation, justice and taking care of due rights of all human beings.\u201d<\/p>\n
He pointed out to some examples of creating peaceful co-existence in the life of the prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, and said: \u201cRasoulullah, peace be upon him, put an end to the 120-year-long fight of Aws and Khazraj tribes in Madinah by dialogue. He inked up an agreement with the Jews who were afraid and very furious that they could live peacefully among Muslims on the condition of avoiding from conspiracy against Muslims.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed the treaty of Hudaibiyyah and behavior of the prophet Mohammad PBUH as other examples that Islam is the religion of peace and co-existence. \u201cRasoulullah PBUH never chanted slogans of \u201cdown with hypocrite\u201d and \u201cdown with Jew\u201d, but he tolerated them,\u201d he added more.<\/p>\n
\u201cNon-Muslims used to live peacefully among Muslims and they had been titled \u201cDhimmi\u201d. Some people may think Dhimmi is an offensive word, while in fact the word means such non-Muslims are under the guardian of Allah, His messenger and Islam. The prophet PBUH and his caliphs enjoined about the rights of Dhimmi non-Muslims,\u201d he made it clear.<\/p>\n
Islam is the religion of tolerance<\/strong> \u201cToday\u2019s Muslims have been away from teachings and directions of the Qur\u2019an and Sunnah, that\u2019s why they have been suffering from various kinds of problems. Many of today\u2019s Muslims, instead of tolerating non-Muslims, cannot tolerate each other,\u201d he underlined.<\/p>\n Chairman of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Balochistan said: \u201cJihad is true and authentic, but it is important to know its correct place. Jihad is authentic against those who do not believe in dialogue and negotiation. Before any Jihad in the era of the prophet PBUH, we can see that there was a failed negotiation.\u201d<\/p>\n At the end of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid expressed his regret on the growing differences of Muslim countries and said: \u201cIt is the conspiracy of the enemies of Islam and international Zionism movement to create differences and intensify them among Muslim rulers and leaders. \nShaikh Abdol-Hamid who was talking to the audience of an international conference held in Tehran University, said: \u201cRasoulullah PBUH used to respect holy objects of all religions and he never demolished worship place of anyone. Islam teaches tolerance, humanity, farsightedness and respecting mankind. So potential of Muslims should be more than others.\u201d<\/p>\n
