Shaikh Abdol-Hamid's Friday remarks on Afghanistan:

International Community must Recognize Afghanistan and Lift Sanctions

Criticizing the international community and some world powers that have imposed sanctions on Afghanistan, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader called such sanctions cruel, unjust and contrary to the international customs and laws.

Addressing the Friday worshippers of Zahedan on Oct 15, 2021, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called on the international community, especially the Muslim countries, to recognize the new government of Afghanistan and establish diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.

“As Iran was subjected to oppressive sanctions by some world powers, unfortunately, the same sanctions were imposed on Afghanistan today,” said the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Zahedan.

He added more: “Afghanistan has a population of about 40 million. Afghanistan is a non-developed and poor country that needs development; imposing such sanctions on Afghanistan, where most of its people of this country are farmers and ranchers, cause irreparable damage to this country”.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid continued: “Two months have passed since the new Afghan government came to power; the world powers still didn’t recognize this government and have blocked its assets. In fact, these sanctions were imposed against the poor people of Afghanistan. Sanctions cause people to migrate from this country.”

“The new Afghan government must be given time to be accountable to the international community on the cases the world has remarks, such as human and women rights. Sanctioning Afghanistan is a great injustice to this nation and it is against international customs.”

Calling for the establishment of diplomatic relations with Afghanistan, president of Darululoom Zahedan addressed the international community: “I’d like to call on the international community and all countries, especially Muslim countries, to establish diplomatic relations with Afghanistan and recognize the new government of this country. China and Russia should not be hostages in the hands of the European Union and Muslim countries shouldn’t follow international powers.”

“They should recognize this country and make relationships with it. The people of Afghanistan should not live in poverty and suffer from various kinds of problems”, Imam of the grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan said.

Security forces can provide lasting security with the support of people
While congratulating the National Police Week of Iran, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said: “Mr. Taheri, the commander chief of the police in Sistan-Balochistan stated that the security in this province is much better than the security of other provinces of the country. In terms of crimes rate, Sistan-Balochistan ranks 33rd province in the country. It means the rate of crimes in this province is very low; it is really a gratifying report”.

“In order to provide security, the military forces must trust in people, because trusting and respecting the people strengthens lasting security. Authorities can provide security by the support of people; people’s support in providing security is vital”, said the Iranian Sunnis’ leader.

Referring to the economic and living problems in Iranian Balochistan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said: “The people of Sistan-Balochistan are suffering from poverty, drought and unemployment; the authorities must solve the economic problems of the people. They should use the potentials of the sea borders and commercial zero points of the province”, said Shaikh Abdol-Hamid.

“Sharing different ethnicities in high positions strengthens unity and brotherhood. I have emphasized in the past that the presence of ethnic groups and religious communities in the armed forces and in the system, strengthens lasting unity and security,” he underlined.

“All Iranians have defended the territorial integrity of this country and have fought together. So they should be given equal rights”, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid further defended the rights of the minorities in Iran.

In his last points, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid advised the drivers to follow the traffic regulations and said: “Drivers should not drive so speed. Unauthorized speeding is very dangerous. If the driving rules are not followed and people are killed in accidents, the driver has committed a crime of murder and he is guilty”.
